  • Patent number: 4545251
Abstract: An ultrasonic non-destructive testing apparatus of the electronic scanning type comprising transmitter for producing exciting pulses in response to a predetermined timing pulse, a probe coupled to said transmitter, having a plurality of transducers for transmitting ultrasonic waves into a body to be tested and for receiving ultrasonic echo waves, signal processor coupled to said probe for processing said ultrasonic echo waves received by said probe to generate an echo wave signal, a memory coupled to said signal processor for storing reference data on an amplitude attenuation of an ultrasonic echo coming through each beam propagating path which is obtained by transmitting the ultrasonic waves into a calibration body at the time of a calibration, calculator coupled to said memory for calculating a predetermined correction value on the basis of said reference data stored in said memory, said predetermined correction value being at each crossing points on a two dimensional coordinate by applying a linear interpo

  • Patent number: 4205554
Abstract: A probe unit including a plurality of ultrasonic fault detection probes is moved along an object to be examined by a probe drive unit. The fault detection signals produced by the probes are transfer switched among a plurality of channels of a channel selector and the output of the channel selector is sampled by a high speed sampling device. A computer is connected to the probe drive unit, channel selector and the sampling device to apply operating signals thereto and to receive the outputs thereof.

  • Patent number: 4096757
Abstract: An ultrasonic defect detection apparatus comprising a supersonic probe, a rotary shaft for revolving the probe along the inner surface of a pipe to be examined, and a hollow shaft removably connected to the rotary shaft for vertically moving the probe. Water acting as a contact medium is circulated between the operating surface of the probe and a water tank through the rotary shaft and the hollow shaft. The apparatus is inserted into a pipe to be examined such as the control rod housing of an atomic reactor through the bottom opening of the pipe, and can be operated from a remote place for the sake of safety.

  • Patent number: 3943755
Abstract: Method and apparatus for measuring the magnitude of a clamping load applied to a laminated iron core of an electric machine which comprises the steps of introducing a sound wave into a laminated iron core of an electric machine at one end face thereof and immediately generating a first electric signal; producing a second electric signal when the sound wave passes through the core body and reaches the opposite end face thereof; measuring a time interval between the emission of the first electric signal and that of the second electric signal; dividing a distance between both end faces of the laminated iron core by the measured time interval to calculate the velocity of a sound wave vertically propagating through the laminated iron core; and determining the measured magnitude of clamping load applied to said core from the calculated propagating velocity of a sound wave with reference to previously prepared data on a relationship between the magnitude of clamping load applied to the core and the corresponding pro
