  • Publication number: 20050157501
Abstract: An illumination device of the invention is an illumination device 100A including an ellipsoidal reflector 130, an arc tube 120, a sub-mirror 122, and a parallelizing lens 140A, which is characterized in that on a light incident-surface 140Ai of the parallelizing lens 140A is formed a reflection reducing layer 142A optimized to match with a light, which is, of the lights emitted from a luminescent center P of the arc tube 120, a light that is emitted toward the ellipsoidal reflector at any angle of 60° to 80° with respect to an illumination optical axis 100Ax and goes incident on the light incident-surface 140Ai of the parallelizing lens 140A after the light is reflected on the ellipsoidal reflector 130. The illumination device of the invention is thus able to further improve efficiency of light utilization as well as further reduce unwanted stray lights by further reducing overall reflectance of the light incident-surface or the light exiting-surface of the parallelizing lens.

  • Publication number: 20050018302
Abstract: An optical multilayer-film filter formed by laminating dielectric thin films on a transparent substrate has a structure in which a dielectric multilayer film formed by alternately laminating high-refractive-index material layers and low-refractive—index material layers is formed on one surface of the transparent substrate, a dielectric monolayer film is formed on the other surface of the transparent substrate, and the dielectric monolayer film is composed of a dielectric material having substantially the same refractive index as that of the transparent substrate. With this structure, a warp width of the substrate due to stresses of the dielectric thin films laminated in the transparent substrate can be further reduced, thereby achieving an optical multilayer-film filter which is protected from optical strain.

  • Patent number: 6481545
Abstract: A vibration damping shim structure is provided, which not only can sufficiently exert vibration damping effect in a wide range of temperatures, but also can prevent a squeal phenomenon particularly in low temperatures. • Patent number: 6213257
Abstract: A squeak preventing shim for a disk brake for an automobile has a squeak preventing effect, even if no lubricant is used, and also prevents decreased durability due to buckling, flow, etc. A shim construction is formed with a plurality of grooves or recesses in rubber layers 2 disposed on two surfaces of a metal plate in a rubber coated member. Owing to these grooves or recesses, apparent transversal elastic modulus of the rubber layers is lowered and a squeak preventing effect due to vibration in a parallel direction to the shim can be obtained, even if no lubricant is used. Further, since longitudinal elastic modulus does not vary much, the shim construction is durable.

  • Patent number: 5939179
Abstract: A constraint type vibration damping material, which exhibits a high vibration damping performance and can realize easiness of processing and a low cost at the same time, is provided, in which a polymer viscoelastic layer made of rubber, etc. is formed on at least one surface of a rigid body such as a metal plate, etc. and a hard cover layer having a rigidity modulus greater than that of the viscoelastic layer and smaller than that of the rigid body. Since the hard cover layer having a great rigidity modulus acts as a constraining material, which forms as the result a pair with the rigid body. Further, since the polymer viscoelastic layer and the hard cover layer can be formed by continuous fabrication steps, it can be advantageous from the point of view of the cost.

  • Patent number: 5762166
Abstract: In order to provide a shim for preventing brake squeal in a disk brake, which can decrease high frequency noise (squealing phenomena) produced at braking, a rubber coated metal, in which a rubber layer is disposed on one surface of a metal plate is used and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer is disposed directly on the other surface of the metal plate, the pressure sensitive adhesive layer may include a primer layer on the other surface of the metal plate. The pressure sensitive adhesive layer of this shim structure serves as an adhesive portion to be stuck to a backplate of a disk brake pad. Since the pressure sensitive adhesive layer is disposed on the metal plate, the pressure sensitive adhesive layer is never peeled off from the rubber coated metal and its damping action (brake squeal preventing action) is maintained.
