  • Patent number: 9175133
Abstract: A polyester has excellent thermostability with only a small reduction in intrinsic viscosity during melt molding. The polyester is obtained from a dicarboxylic acid, and/or an ester-forming derivative thereof, and an ethylene glycol, a catalyst selected from the group consisting of a titanium compound, aluminum compound and antimony compound, a phosphorous compound selected from the group consisting of phosphoric acid, trimethyl phosphate, ethyl diethylphosphonoacetate, 3,9-bis(2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methylphenoxy) -2,4,8, 10-tetraoxa-3,9-diphosphaspiro[5,5]undecane and tetrakis(2,4-di-t-butyl-5-methylphenyl) [1,1-biphenyl]-4,4?-diylbisphosphonite, wherein the polyester contains 15 to 203 ppm of a sum of copolymerized 1,2-propanediol and/or uncopolymerized 1,2-propanediol wherein ethylene glycol is obtained from biomass and has content of 1,2-propanediol of 45 to 1000 ppm.

  • Publication number: 20120322970
Abstract: To provide a method of producing a biomass resource-derived polyester capable of greatly reducing fossil resource usage amounts and carbon dioxide increases that is in way inferior in color or thermal stability to a conventional fossil resource-derived product while also having superior dye affinity. The biomass resource-derived dicarboxylic acid and/or ester forming derivative thereof used as the raw material fulfills at least one of the following conditions: (A) The amount of potassium hydroxide needed to neutralize an acid component extracted using an organic solvent from 1 g of the dicarboxylic acid and/or ester forming derivative thereof is 0.1 mg KOH/g or less (B) The amount of potassium hydroxide needed to neutralize an acid component extracted using water from 1 g of the dicarboxylic acid and/or ester forming derivative thereof is 0.

  • Publication number: 20100028576
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for producing a polyester composition which can be obtained by polycondensation of a dicarboxylic acid or ester-forming derivative thereof and a diol or ester-forming derivative thereof in presence of a polycondensation catalyst, in which a polyester having a good color tone can be obtained by adding a specific phosphorus compound after a polycondensation catalyst is added and pressure reduction in polymerization reactor is started and before the polycondensation of the polyester is substantially completed, and at a time in which the polyester reaches 75% or more of the intrinsic viscosity to be finally reached in said polymerization reactor.
