  • Patent number: 4594124
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the production of laminated sheath cables having improved close contact between a laminated tape layer and the core of the cable. The tape is longitudinally wrapped around the cable with portions of the tape overlapping. The assembly is then heated and passed through a set of pressing rollers disposed at a single pressing position. The rollers are at least three in number. The arc length of each roller is determined by dividing the total outer circumference of the assembled tape and cable core by the number of rollers.

  • Patent number: 4346253
Abstract: A coaxial cable which is highly flexible and in which bending causes very little change in electrical characteristics is disclosed. Inner and outer conductors, each provided as a corrugated tube, are arranged coaxially with a thermoplastic resin insulating member therebetween. The insulating member is composed of a spiral rib joined to an outer insulating tube. The spiral rib is made of high density polyethylene and the insulating tube of low density polyethylene. The ratio of the corrugation pitch of the inner conductor to the pitch of the outer conductor is in a range of 0.9 to 1.2.

  • Patent number: 4071388
Abstract: A jointer for laminated tapes for use in the production of sheathed cables formed by longitudinally or helically wrapping cable cores with metal tapes laminated with plastic films and by joining the overlapped portions of said tapes by way of heat fusion is disclosed. The method comprises the use of pressing blocks consisting of metal material having a high heat conductivity and respectively having machined surfaces opposing in parallel to each other for the application of uniform pressure to both surfaces of the laminated tapes held therebetween. A heating piece is provided which is electrically insulated from and mounted to the bottom of the pressing block and having relatively high electric resistance and being supplied with electric current thereby pulse heating the portions of the laminated tapes to be spliced.
