  • Patent number: 7771336
Abstract: In a variable cut-off length type rotary printing machine, to perform processes such as a process of folding a cut-off sheet with a high degree of accuracy, a folding machine includes a cut-off unit capable of varying and cutting a cut-off length of a web fed from a printing machine of the rotary printing machine, and a processor (such as a folder, etc.) for processing a sheet 10a cut off by the cut-off unit. Between the cut-off unit 50 and the processor, the folding machine further includes a first belt conveyor for conveying the sheet at a speed equal to the web, and a second belt conveyor for receiving the sheet from the first belt conveyor at a speed approximately equal to the sheet conveying speed of the first belt conveyor, then varying the conveying speed to a speed approximately equal to the sheet conveying speed of the processor, and delivering the sheet to processor.

  • Publication number: 20100101438
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for adjusting a gap between folding rollers to fold signature in a printing press and the printing press are disclosed. To automatically adjust the gap to the optimum distance through which signatures are passing, the apparatus includes gap adjusting mechanism 17 for adjusting the gap between a pair of folding rollers 14 and 14 to press and fold signature 1, detecting unit 23 for detecting transfer state information relative to actually passing the printed sheets through the gap between the pair of the folding rollers; and controller 24 for controlling the gap adjusting mechanism so that the gap between the folding rollers corresponds to the transfer state information detected by the detecting unit.

  • Publication number: 20080277858
Abstract: A folding machine includes a lower conveyance belt that forms a lower conveyance path section for guiding and conveying a signature by a lower conveyance surface, an upper conveyance belt that forms an upper conveyance path section for guiding and conveying the signature by an upper conveyance surface, a chopper table for guiding the lower conveyance belt, a stopper for aligning a downstream end position of the signature, and a chopper blade for forming a chopper signature. A coefficient of static friction of the lower conveyance surface and the upper conveyance surface to an iron surface is 0.2 or more and less than 0.3, and a nip roller for increasing holding force to the signature between the lower conveyance surface and the upper conveyance surface is provided at a part more upstream side than the stopper by at least a length of the signature.
