Patent number: 6659558Abstract: A seat reclining device has a base plate secured to a seat cushion, an arm member secured to a seat back, upper and lower tooth plates pivotally mounted on a base plate and provided with upper and lower teeth, a cam member pivotally mounted on the base plate, and at least one support for the lower tooth plate. When the cam member moves the lower tooth plate in a direction to bring the lower teeth into contact with the upper teeth, the upper tooth plate is locked together with the arm member so that the seat back becomes unable to pivot relative to the seat cushion. In such a locked condition, the support supports the end portion of the lower tooth plate so as to maintain the engagement of the upper and lower teeth. Thus, the seat reclining device can lock the seat back with improved strength.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2002Date of Patent: December 9, 2003Assignee: Fuji Koko Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kunihisa Sugimoto

Patent number: 6568756Abstract: A foldable vehicle seat is constructed such that when the seat is placed in a passenger area and that a seat cushion is tipped up from a seating position, a forward-inclination stopper stops once the seat cushion at an upright position by abutting on a lock plate. When the seat is moved from the passenger area to a luggage area, the forward-inclination stopper allows inclination of the seat cushion to the most forward inclined position in accordance with a position of the lock plate.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2001Date of Patent: May 27, 2003Assignee: Fuji Kiko Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kunihisa Sugimoto, Shuichi Sugano

Patent number: 6338532Abstract: A dual lock seat reclining mechanism includes left and right devices and a connection member connecting the left and right devices. Each device includes a base member to be fixed to a seat cushion, a swing tooth plate adapted to be fixed to a seat back and swingably mounted on the base plate through a center shaft, and a look tooth member having an external toothed portion for engaging with an internally toothed portion of the swing tooth plate. An operation member or lever is swingable between the base member and the swing tooth member, for moving the look tooth member toward and away from the internal toothed portion of the swing tooth plate for locking and unlocking. The operation member has a pin slidably received in an elongate arc hole of the base plate. A link has an outer bent portion engaged with the pin in the elongate hole, and an inner portion connected with one end of the connection member for transmission of rotation.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2000Date of Patent: January 15, 2002Assignee: Fuji Kiko Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kunihisa Sugimoto

Patent number: 5813724Abstract: An adjustable hinge mount in which a first hinge member is fixed to a seat proper or frame and a second hinge member fixed to the seat back comprises a control arrangement acting on a bearing plate with upper teeth for locking engagement with internal teeth of the second hinge member. The bearing plate is guided by spaced guide walls of the first hinge member and pushed by an elevated portion of a cam pivotable about an axle together with a lever which is pivotable about the axle. Pivoting the lever to an unlocking or released position causes the cam to disengage from the internal teeth.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1996Date of Patent: September 29, 1998Assignee: Fuji Kiko Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroshi Matsuura, Kunihisa Sugimoto, Isao Ikegaya, Masakiyo Ohya

Patent number: 5338093Abstract: A seat reclining apparatus for adjusting an inclining angle of a seat back to a seat cushion is provided with a base plate secured to the seat cushion. An arm is secured to the seat back and is pivotably supported by the base plate. An upper tooth is secured to the arm, while a lower tooth for engaging the upper tooth is pivotably supported by the base plate. An operating structure is pivotably supported by the base plate, which operating structure operates the lower tooth to engage and disengage the lower tooth and the upper tooth.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1992Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Assignee: Fujikiko Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Isao Ikegaya, Kunihisa Sugimoto
