In particular, there is provided a novel camphorquinone derivative having an acylphosphine oxide group [—(C?O)—(P?O)<] in each molecule. Further, there is provided a photopolymerization initiator comprising the camphorquinone derivative having an acrylphosphine oxide group [—(C?O)—(P?O)<] in each molecule as an indispensable component, loaded with at least one member selected from among a polymerization accelerator, a photoacid generator, a photosensitizer and a (bis)acylphosphine oxide, and provided a hardenable composition comprising the initiator.

When dental adhesive restorative materials such as dental resin cements, composite resins, PMMA resins and the like are made to adhere directly or through bonding agents to substrates such as vital hard tissues, especially an enamel or a dentin of natural teeth, glass ionomer cements and the like, the primer composition is able to impart a strong and durable adhesive property between the both without treating said substrates with an acid and the like.
