  • Patent number: 4326816
Abstract: A housing member for a transmission in a vehicle has an axially extending columnar portion having a non-circular cross-section. A rear mount is fitted on the columnar portion. The rear mount is kept from slipping off the columnar portion by a first lock washer fastened to the end of the columnar portion. The lock washer includes a first annular piece fitted on the columnar portion and a second annular piece having a diameter larger than that of the columnar portion. A second lock washer is arranged for preventing a bolt for fastening from loosening. The second lock washer has at least two tabs respectively engaging the bolt head and the first lock washer.

  • Patent number: 4226200
Abstract: An automatic transmission for vehicles including a fluid torque converter, a change-over gear mechanism, and an oil pressure control means, wherein the oil pressure control means is substantially composed of a grooved portion formed integrally with the housing of the transmission, a first valve body means adapted to engage a first part of the grooved portion and providing a manual shift valve, and a second valve body means adapted to engage a second part of the grooved portion and providing other hydraulically operated control valves.

  • Patent number: 4188839
Abstract: A throttling control valve having a spool-like valve element which is gradually shifted in accordance with increase of a control fluid pressure so as to provide four different passage connections therethrough so as to be able to provide four different flow resistances, and a system for controlling downshift timing of an automatic transmission for vehicles which employs this throttling control valve so as to change delay time in supplying fluid pressure to a lower speed friction engaging means in accordance with governor pressure.

  • Patent number: 4058193
Abstract: A hydraulic control device for use in an automatic transmission includes an accumulator which moderates the increased fluid pressure supplied to a hydraulically actuated frictional engagement device when a gear shift is made to a forward drive condition. The hydraulic control device has an orifice and a check valve disposed in parallel to each other in a passage supplying the fluid pressure to the frictional engagement device so that the check valve is closed and the orifice reduces the increased fluid pressure supplied to the frictional engagement device as the frictional engagement device is actuated.

  • Patent number: 4056988
Abstract: A driving system acting in conjunction with a motor vehicle having a torque convertor coaxially coupled to the output shaft of the engine, and transfer means having a driving gear coaxially coupled to the output shaft of the overdrive means and a driven gear coupled to its driving gear. Overdrive means having a planetary gear mechanism are coaxially coupled to the output shaft of the torque convertor, and include an output shaft coupled to the driving gear of the transfer means. An automatic transmission is coaxially coupled to the driven gear of the transfer means and includes a planetary mechanism and friction engaging means to provide the desired mode of operation. A differential gear having a driving gear coupled to the output shaft of the automatic transmission drives the motor vehicle. The automatic transmission is positioned below the overdrive means.
