  • Patent number: 6727998
Abstract: A printing system can stably transmit print data by a simple operation without deterioration of an image quality. A first printer system is connected to a communication line, and transmits the print data by electronic mail through the communication line. The print data to be transmitted is converted into data described in a printer language by a printer driver provided in the first printer system. A second printer system is connected to the communication line, and receives the electronic mail via the communication line. The second printer system performs a printing operation based on the print data contained in the received electronic mail.

  • Patent number: 6590675
Abstract: A printing method for a print system operating with an operating system, which includes the steps of providing, storing, selecting, and executing. The providing steps provide an application for generating print data and a print station. The storing step stored form data. The selecting step selects at least one of a first form overlay instruction for assigning the print data as a background image and the form data as a foreground and a second form overlay instruction for assigning the print data as a foreground image and the form data as a background. The executing executes a first form overlay operation, and includes the steps of adding and transmitting. The adding step adds the form data immediately after each page of the print data when the selecting step selects the first form overlay instruction and the form data in front of each page of the print data when the selecting step selects the second form overlay instruction.

  • Patent number: 5418904
Abstract: An image forming system includes an image processor, a print engine, optional units, and a serial communication line. The print engine manages a variety of information including its own status. Priority for inquiry is given the information. The image processor has a function of generating a command used when the image processor inquires of the print engine information. The command includes flag data indicating whether the image processor requests information having the highest priority or information having a priority lower than the highest priority. The image processor further has a function of sending the command to the print engine and receiving a response from the print engine. The print engine has a function of receiving the command and sending the image processor, as the response, the requested information.
