  • Patent number: 6181866
Abstract: There is a receiving apparatus in which the received data is recorded by a recording head which accesses each portion of a recording medium. This receiving apparatus comprises: a discriminating circuit to discriminate whether the portion accessed by the recording head is the recorded portion or the unrecorded portion upon reception; and a control circuit for allowing the recording head to access the unrecorded portion on the basis of the result of the discrimination of the discriminating circuit. Upon reception, the control circuit controls the recording head so as to automatically access the unrecorded portion. Further, upon reception, an amount of unrecorded portions is displayed.

  • Patent number: 6097904
Abstract: In order to separately detect an abnormal temperature rise at a fixing roller of an image forming apparatus and a disconnection of a thermistor that detects the temperature of the fixing roller, the first and the second resistors are selected and connected to a thermistor for predetermined periods of time. When the first resistor is connected to the thermistor, a disconnection of the thermistor is detected based on a detection voltage that corresponds to the voltage division ratio of the reading for the first resistor to the reading for the thermistor. When the second resistor is connected to the thermistor, an abnormal temperature rise of the fixing roller is detected based on a detection voltage that corresponds to the voltage division ratio of the reading for the second resistor to the reading for the thermistor.

  • Patent number: 5923919
Abstract: An image forming apparatus has an automatic power-off function for automatically shutting off a power source of the image forming apparatus when it is not operated for a predetermined time. A time until the automatic power-off function operates is made different in an ordinary standby mode and an interruption mode. The interruption mode is caused by an abnormality such as no paper. The time period in the interruption mode is made longer than the time period in the standby mode. The time period in the interruption mode is also made variable depending on the type of detected abnormality. The power-off time periods may be extended when an instruction is inputted via an operator. In addition, in an image forming apparatus having an original feeding device, a image forming mode is stored in memory and all the originals which have not been imaged will be ejected before the power is shut off in the interrupt mode.

  • Patent number: 5235620
Abstract: An information signal restoring apparatus of this invention is arranged to receive a modulated information signal formed by modulating a predetermined carrier signal in accordance with an information signal and then to restore the input modulated information signal to the original information signal. The information signal restoring apparatus is arranged to receive the modulated information signal to generate a frequency signal which is phase synchronized with a modulated information signal which is input during a first period and then to generate an information signal on the basis of the result of a phase comparison made between the frequency signal generated by the frequency signal generating means and a modulated information signal which is input during a second period different from the first period. Accordingly, it is possible to restore the modulated information signal to the original information signal stably and accurately by means of a simplified construction.
