  • Patent number: 5697881
Abstract: A folding machine is provided with a collection mechanism to permit abatement of load deviation and also the amount of time required for changeover from the collection mode to the non-collection mode in shortened. The folding machine with collection mechanism includes a fixed cam 31 forming a cam profile 31A for a predetermined delivering action of a pin 15B in a collection cylinder 15 and a rotating cam 30 having a screening portion 30A to screen the cam profile 31A every other time the pin 15B reaches the delivering operation position KK using the screening portion 30A in a collection mode so as to deliver a piled, layered fold section and to not screen the cam 31A every time the pin 15B reaches the delivering operation position KK in a non-collection mode so as to delivery a non-piled, non-layered fold section.

  • Patent number: 5429579
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a variable size folding machine 10 in which a plurality of cross perforaters 61, 62, and 63 are disposed. Any of the plurality of cross perforaters 61, 62, and 63 may be selected for forming lateral perforations on a signature 15 of a corresponding size. A lateral perforated line is applied by the selected cross perforater to the print paper 14A-14F printed in the printing machine and delivered therefrom. Each of the cross perforaters 61, 62, and 63 can be integrated and moved as a cross perforater unit 60 to thereby select a particular cross perforater.

  • Patent number: 5096174
Abstract: A composite type folding machine which cuts printed paper into cut sheets and selects between a mode in which the cut sheets are discharged one by one as a non-collected or separate folded sheet alternately into two directions and a mode in which two collected folded sheets of different kinds are discharged into a single direction is disclosed. Two gripping cylinder provided at the discharging side in this machine are disposed at different intervals compared with that of pin mechanisms comprised in a thrusting cylinder close to the gripping cylinders in which a rotary cam having cam portions to actuate each the pin mechanism with different modes is provided. In consequence, the phase of the rotary cam over the thrusting cylinder is changed to thereby choose one of the modes.

  • Patent number: 4233104
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically splicing and feeding a web of paper, fabric or the like comprises a web feeder which includes a rotary shaft, web roll holding arms with their central portions fitted to the rotary shaft, lever members mounted on said rotary shaft on the outside of the arms to be substantially perpendicular thereto, an automatic web splicing device supported by the lever members, and a device for driving the rotary shaft so as to move the arms to a working position. The apparatus further comprises a festoon loop type web storing device and an electric mechanism for determining direction and angle of rotation of the rotary shaft. The web splicing device includes web nip rollers and a cutting device for cutting the web after bonding the trailing end of a preceding web to the leading end of a succeeding web.
