Publication number: 20050230448Abstract: A tractor feeds a perforated continuous paper sheet to a printing position. The feeding force of a fusing device located downstream of the printing position is set larger than the feeding force of the tractor in order to apply tension to the continuous paper sheet at the printing position. A braking device located upstream of the tractor applies a braking force balancing with the feeding force of the fusing device to the continuous paper sheet. The braking force of the braking device is varied depending upon the properties of the paper sheet or the environmental conditions. This arrangement makes it possible to stabilize the feeding state even under situations where the sheet feeding force is likely to become unstable, thereby realizing printing without any deviation from the predetermined position. Further, this arrangement can also prevent hole breakage to occur.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2001Publication date: October 20, 2005Inventors: Kuniyuki Miura, Masahiro Toda, Takayuki Ito, Hironao Honaga, Noboru Oomoto

Patent number: 6453145Abstract: A control unit controls a power supply to supply power for the illumination of a flash lamp. During illumination of the flash lamp, the current that flows through the flash lamp is kept approximately constant at a predetermined value.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2000Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: Minolta Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kuniyuki Miura

Patent number: 6427061Abstract: A flash device includes a DC power supply, a flash lamp, and a plurality of charge/discharge elements, which are charged via a charging path by the DC power supply and discharge electric charge via a discharging path to the flash lamp. A first switch selectively establishes (a) a parallel state in which the charge/discharge elements are connected in parallel with one another, and connected to the DC power supply via the charging path and (b) a series state in which the charge/discharge elements are connected in series with the flash lamp via the discharging path, and connected in series with one another. A second switch is positioned in the charging path between the DC power supply and the charge/discharge elements, and selectively connects and disconnects the charge/discharge elements to and from the DC power supply. A controller has the second switch perform connection and has the first switch establish the parallel state to have the charge/discharge elements charged.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2000Date of Patent: July 30, 2002Assignee: Minolta Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kuniyuki Miura, Masao Watanabe

Patent number: 6301449Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for operating a work apparatus that includes a mechanism for performing a predetermined operation, such as, image formation and uses a replacement component to replace an expended or defective component of the work apparatus. A database that includes information about a characteristic of the replacement component communicatively links with the work mechanism and a reader reads identification information affixed to the replacement component. A device in the work mechanism receives from the database the information about the characteristic of the replacement component, which information corresponds to the identification information read from the replacement component. Either the replacement component or the operation of the work mechanism is adjusted according to the information about the characteristic of the replacement component.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1999Date of Patent: October 9, 2001Assignee: Minolta Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kuniyuki Miura
