Patent number: 11668836Abstract: Concepts and technologies directed to global positioning system spoofing countermeasures are disclosed. Embodiments can include a system that comprises a processor and a memory that stores computer-executable instructions that configure a processor to perform operations that include identifying a mobile transportation equipment that includes an electronic logging device and a low-power wide area device, where the electronic logging device obtains GPS location data from a GPS receiver unit and the low-power wide area device obtains independent location data via a narrow band path of a low-power wide area network. The operations can include determining that a spatio-temporal misalignment exists between the independent location data and the GPS location data for the mobile transportation equipment, and providing spatio-temporal data alignment. The operations can include determining that a GPS spoofing attack has occurred, and creating a GPS spoofing alert for the mobile transportation equipment.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2022Date of Patent: June 6, 2023Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Channarong Tontiruttananon, Anoop Santh Mayor, Ken McDaniel, Kuntaporn Saiyos

Patent number: 9009316Abstract: A system and method for providing on-demand Integrated capacity and reliability Service Level Agreement (SLA) Software License (ISL). The disclosed approach allows customized purchase of capacity together with the desired reliability SLA at fine granularity of both quantities. The ISL licensing approach can be applied in the distributed Processing Entities (PEs) systems and also in the Virtual Machines (VMs) based cloud computing model. The on-demand ISL licensing approach makes use of an ISL dimensioning methodology (implemented using an ISL Manager) and an ISL Controller (ISLC) that keeps track of the capacity usage at the system level together with the periodic monitoring of health status of PEs or VMs. The ISLC dynamically controls the capacity usage as well as the reliability SLA based on the aggregated workload utilization conditions from all the PEs or VMs, hence allowing the delivery of the user-purchased level of guaranteed reliability SLA in an economical manner.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2011Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Channarong Tontiruttananon, Kuntaporn Saiyos

Publication number: 20150004964Abstract: In order to provide an early and more accurate determination of network problems, current NPI OMs are compared with samples of recent historical NPI OMs so that changes in the NPI OM are detected based on current overall network conditions rather than on conditions that may have existed at statistically insignificant earlier operational periods. By constantly adjusting a performance threshold, against which the current NPI OM is compared, by using a smaller and very recent sampling of NPIs (in the case of sudden and abrupt performance-NPI degradation detection) or a larger and greater number of NPIs over a wider time period (in the case of slow and persistent NPI degradation detection) to establish the threshold, detection results are more accurate and meaningful.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2014Publication date: January 1, 2015Inventors: Channarong TONTINUTTANANON, Kuntaporn SAIYOS, Deborah CASE, Peter WENZEL, Aamir SATTAR

Patent number: 7301905Abstract: Provided is a system and method for controlling overload in a telecommunications network. The network carries a traffic load that may include traffic of multiple classes and mixed types. The method determines whether the traffic load has exceeded one or more overload thresholds. Each threshold is associated with a class or type of traffic. If one or more of the thresholds have been exceeded, the method sets a timer associated with the exceeded threshold. Each timer has a state (e.g., expired or not expired) and the states of the timers are used to look up a function for controlling the overload. The function is used to alter the traffic flow of one or more of the traffic classes.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2002Date of Patent: November 27, 2007Assignee: Nortel Networks LimitedInventors: Channarong Tontiruttananon, Carlos Molina, Carlos Motta, Anabella Arosemena, Kuntaporn Saiyos
