  • Publication number: 20090300377
Abstract: A computer system for managing power consumption includes a power supply, a current detecting module, a power control module and a feedback control module. The power supply is used for outputting a system voltage according to a feedback signal. The current detecting module senses a system current to generate system current information. The power control module includes a calculating unit and a user interface. The calculating unit calculates a power consumption of the computer system according to the system current information or the system voltage. The user interface includes a plurality of power adjusting functions, and is used for displaying the system current information and the power consumption. In addition, the user interface generates a voltage control signal according to a power adjusting function selected from the plurality of power adjusting functions. The feedback control module adjusts the feedback signal according to the voltage control signal.

  • Patent number: 7579794
Abstract: A fan system includes a fan, a hysteresis circuit including a temperature sensor, a first operational amplifier having a negative input end coupled to the temperature sensor, and a second operational amplifier having a negative input end coupled to an output end of the first operational amplifier and having a positive input end coupled to a power supply for outputting a first voltage when the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor is greater than a first temperature, and for outputting a second voltage when the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor is lower than a second temperature. The fan system further includes a fan switch coupled to the hysteresis circuit and the fan for controlling a rotational speed of the fan according to the first voltage or the second voltage outputted from the hysteresis circuit. The first temperature is greater than the second temperature.

  • Publication number: 20080256283
Abstract: A multimedia expansion module suitable to be assembled in a computer device is provided. The multimedia expansion module includes a first group of pins, a second group of pins, a third group of pins, a first pin area and a second pin area. The first group of pins supports the transmission of universal serial bus (USB) signals. The second group of pins supports the transmission of serial disk drive interface signals. The third group of pins supports the transmission of peripheral component interconnect (PCI) express interface signal whose rate is at least 2.5 G bps. The third group of pins includes a first part of pins and a second part of pins. The first group of pins and the first part of pins are provided at the first pin area, and the second group of pins and the second part of pins are provided at the second pin area.

  • Publication number: 20070294452
Abstract: An external multimedia expansion device suitable for being electrically connected to a portable computer is provided. An express card is inserted into the portable computer, and the external multimedia expansion device is suitable for being electrically connected to the portable computer through the express card. The external multimedia expansion device includes a first circuit board and a transmitting cable. The first circuit board is suitable for being electrically connected to at least one processing unit, and to the express card through the transmitting cable. The transmitting cable is suitable for transmitting at least one of a high-speed signal and a universal serial bus (USB) signal, so that the performance of the portable computer can be enhanced through operating the processing unit. Since the external multimedia expansion device is suitable for transmitting the high-speed signal, the portable computer can enhance performance of its hardware through an external expansion card.

  • Publication number: 20060245136
Abstract: A temperature detecting and control circuit with a first voltage dividing circuit, a second voltage dividing circuit, a fan rotary speed controller, and a comparator is described. The first voltage dividing circuit generates a first voltage. The second voltage dividing circuit generates a second voltage. The second voltage dividing circuit has a temperature sensitive element for detecting the temperature of hardware. The comparator compares the first voltage with the second voltage and then outputs the result to the fan rotary speed controller. When the fan rotary speed controller receives a first fan control signal, the fan is maintained at a first rotary speed. When the fan rotary speed controller receives a second fan control signal, the fan is maintained at a second rotary speed.
