  • Patent number: 4325702
Abstract: A pulley with a variable working diameter, including two coaxial disks which are rotatable relative to one another, of which the one has a radial and the other at least one spiral-shaped guide groove. A plurality of support members with a segmentlike form are positioned between the disks and can be clamped with their front sides between the disks in different radial positions so that their radially outer peripheral areas define a polygonal path which is similar to a circle. The support members having projections engaged in the guide grooves of both disks so that relative rotation of the disks moves the support members radially for changing the respective circle diameter. Each support member--viewed in the direction of the axis of rotation of the disks--has the shape of an asymmetrical segment, preferably a circular-ring segment, with a longer and a shorter diagonal.

  • Patent number: 4318285
Abstract: An apparatus for the positive delivery of thread to a circular knitting machine having a plurality of movable belts which are positioned at different heights. A plurality of conveyor rollers are associated with the belts and are supported on a machine support ring. A plurality of cut-off devices individually coact with the conveyor rollers and, when the thread tension lessens, move the respective thread from its conveying position, in which it is movably clamped between one of the belts and its respective conveyor roller, into a rest position in which the thread lies outside of the belt. A number of the conveyor rollers, each of which corresponds with one of the belts, are individually rotatably but coaxially supported about a common axis defined by a support which projects from a holder, which holder is secured to the support ring. An elongated guide bar is also secured to the holder in sidewardly spaced but parallel relationship with respect to the common axis.

  • Patent number: 4259851
Abstract: A positive thread-delivery device for a textile, in particular a knitting, machine with a plurality of thread-guiding rollers, with which cooperates a common delivery belt and with which each one a thread-control element is associated, which thread-control element during the delivery of the thread holds same in a clamping position between the delivery belt and the thread-guiding roller and which during a drop in the tension of the thread which is delivered by the thread-delivery device can be changed over into a position in which it guides the thread over an area of the thread-guiding roller which is free of the delivery belt to thus terminate the thread delivery, and a tension feeler is provided which engages, independently from the thread-control element, the thread which is delivered by the thread-delivery device, which feeler operates an electromagnet which loads the thread-control element.

  • Patent number: 4259852
Abstract: A positive thread-delivery device for a knitting machine, wherein a plurality of thread-guiding rollers are associated with each knitting system, with which one common delivery belt cooperates, wherein with each roller there is associated a thread-control element which, during processing of the thread, holds same in a clamping position between the delivery belt and roller and which during paying out of the thread can be changed over into a position in which it guides the thread over an area of the roller which is free from the delivery belt to thus terminate such delivery, and including a thread-breakage monitor wherein a swivel arm is provided which engages the thread which unwinds from the thread-delivery device, which swivel arm has associated therewith first and second switches operated at different angles of traverse of the swivel arm, the first switch controlling an electromagnet which loads the thread-control element, the second switch stopping the drive of the machine, the first switch being the first

  • Patent number: 4247057
Abstract: A thread-storage and delivery device for a textile machine having a positive storage for positive thread delivery to the textile machine and a compensating storage for intermittent thread delivery to the machine. A thread drum of the positive storage and a storage drum of the compensating storage are arranged coaxially to one another. The withdrawal area of the storage drum and the winding-up area of the thread drum are arranged axially adjacent to one another, which causes the thread to transfer directly from one drum over to the other. In the transfer area there is mounted a support member which permits the movement of the thread in a peripheral direction. The winding directions of both drums are opposite to one another and both drums are moved relative to one another with a peripheral speed which, as an average over the operating time, corresponds approximately to twice the thread-delivery speed of the positive storage.

  • Patent number: 4235388
Abstract: A thread storage and delivery device comprises a storage drum journalled by bearings on a driven axle.A retaining sleeve is journalled in eccentric inclined bearings at a stationary support of the device and the storage drum respectively. The sleeve is drivingly engaged by a radial arm extending from and fixed to the axle. The driven radial arm winds on the thread coming from a thread supply cone onto the surface of the storage drum.Rotation of the storage drum is prevented by the inclined, eccentric journalling of the sleeve between the stationary support of the device and the storage drum. The sliding movement between the driven radial arm and the sleeve is minimized by the fact that the axis of the sleeve intersect the center axis of the device at a point which is located approximately in a region delineated by notional planes drawn radially to the center axis through the points of driving contact between the radial arm and the sleeve during a complete revolution of the driven axle.

  • Patent number: 4153213
Abstract: A thread-delivery device for textile machines, comprising a drum which can be driven for rotation, onto which drum can be tangentially wound a thread coming from a thread bobbin for forming an intermediate thread storage, and from which for positive delivery the thread can be removed tangentially in the area of a removal edge of the drum through a thread-guiding member which is arranged approximately at the level of the removal edge radially outside of the drum. A thread-control element is provided which is transversely movably supported relative to the withdrawn thread, which thread-control element is maintained by the withdrawn thread in one operating position in the area of the thread path between the drum and the thread-guiding member approximately at the level of the removal edge of the drum when the withdrawn thread is at normal operating tension. The thread-control element moves when the thread tension is reduced due to its weight or spring loading into a position below the plane of the removal edge.

  • Patent number: 4137731
Abstract: A thread supply device for a textile machine, such as a knitting machine, having a drive. The thread supply device includes a thread drum on which a thread issuing from a supply bobbin can be wound tangentially to form an intermediate thread supply and from which the thread can be removed over a removal edge of the drum. A thread-control element is positioned adjacent to the path of thread removal in the vicinity of the removal edge, and against which the thread abuts laterally due to the tension of removal during a positive thread supply mode. The thread-control element also functions as a thread tension-sensing element and is movable responsive to a decrease in the tension of the removed thread such that, when this tension falls below a predetermined value, this element activates a switching structure which stops the machine drive.
