  • Patent number: 4047675
Abstract: A thread storing and feeding device, particularly for feeding thread in a sewing machine. The device includes a housing having a storage drum mounted thereon. The thread is tangentially fed onto the drum and is withdrawn over the end thereof. A sliding disc movable in the axial direction of the drum moves the thread supply over the drum. A control device is actuated by the sliding disc for controlling a winding drive. The sliding disc is mounted on a pivot lever, of which the end directed away from the sliding disc is tiltably mounted at a distance from the storage drum axle at least approximately equal to the drum radius.

  • Patent number: 4039155
Abstract: A thread storing and feeding device for a textile machine, which device includes a storage drum to which the thread can be tangentially fed to form a thread supply and from which it can be withdrawn particularly overend. A disc is movably supported with respect to the drum for displacing the thread supply axially along the drum. The drum has a closed circumferential wall provided with a plurality of longitudinally extending, circumferentially spaced grooves formed in the exterior surface thereof. The movable disc is positioned adjacent the upper end of the drum and has an edge section which overlaps the upper edge of the drum. This edge section has a plurality of webs thereon which project inwardly into the longitudinal grooves of the drum. The webs define a lower thread engaging surface which engages the threads so as to push the thread storage axially along the drum.

  • Patent number: 3999717
Abstract: A thread delivery device for a textile machine, which device includes a drum upon which a thread can be tangentially wound to form an intermediate thread storage and from which the thread can be unwound axially over an end of the drum. A thread control member is positioned adjacent the withdrawal end of the drum for engaging the withdrawn thread to limit the withdrawal rate of thread from the drum substantially to the rate at which the thread is wound onto the drum to thereby provide a positive thread supply. A thread guide element is disposed adjacent but radially spaced from the drum, and the last thread winding on the drum (that is, the winding which is about to be withdrawn from the drum) is guided around the thread guide element and then back to the drum so that the last winding thus forms a partial winding on the drum. This thread control element thus ensures that two or more windings are not wound off the drum simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 3994446
Abstract: A thread supply device, as for a textile machine, having a stationary thread drum onto which a thread which comes from a storage bobbin can be wound tangentially by means of a winding-on member which rotates around the drum edge for forming an intermediate thread supply on the drum. The thread can be pulled off the drum through a central withdrawal eye. A thread control element is arranged in the area of the withdrawal path of the thread. The thread control element has the form of a hook and is secured on the winding-on member. The hook receives the withdrawal thread in its mouth to limit the thread withdrawal speed to the thread winding-on speed. In the thread withdrawal path, downstream of the hook, there is provided a cut-off eye arranged on a swivel arm which can be swung transversely to the thread path from an operating position into a nonuse or shut-off position. This arm is hinged to the rotating winding-on member and swivels about an axis which is substantially aligned with the axis of the drum.

  • Patent number: 3993258
Abstract: A thread delivery device, preferably for a textile machine, having a fixed drum with a rotatable hollow shaft. A thread from a storage bobbin is delivered from a first face of the drum through the shaft to a second face of the drum. A thread take-up member in the form of a circular take-up disc is rigidly mounted on the shaft adjacent the second face. A thread eyelet is arranged in the vicinity of the edge of the take-up disc for tangentially winding an intermediate supply of thread onto the drum. The intermediate thread supply is movable in the direction of the first face of the drum where the thread is drawn off the drum in the direction of and over the second face and fed to the working elements of the textile machine. An entire annular flange is arranged on the take-up disc, inside of the thread guide, which flange is perpendicular to the disc and projects towards the drum. The flange is concentric with the drum and the section thereof adjacent to the second face.

  • Patent number: 3949573
Abstract: A thread delivery device for a textile machine in which a member associated with a thread delivery arrangement is driven by a driving belt which in turn is driven by a driving wheel whose effective diameter can be varied to vary the speed of the driving belt. The driving belt is engaged with a running surface associated with the driving wheel. The driving belt is provided with holes therein, and the running surface of the driving wheel is formed by a second driving belt with pins on its outer face which engage in the holes of the first-mentioned driving belt to provide a slip-free connection therebetween. The second driving belt is engaged with and extends between the driving wheel and a further guide or idler wheel.

  • Patent number: 3944156
Abstract: A thread storage and supply device for textile machines comprising a storage drum which is nonrotatably journaled at the free end of an axle, which axle is prevented from rotating by means of a laterally displaced journal pin which extends parallel to the longitudinal direction of the axle and is rotatably positioned in a rotatably journaled disc. The device further comprises a thread supply means which is journaled on the axle, which support means can be set in rotation and which winds the thread upon the storage drum. The rotatably journaled disc is connected, for the purpose of synchronous rotation, to the rotating thread supply means by a connecting pin which is rigidly mounted on the thread supply means and which passes through a radial slot in the rotatably journaled disc. The thread supply means includes a corotational channel for the thread.
