Patent number: 9961462Abstract: An acoustic transducer and audio system are checked for operability continuously during operation without interfering with their operation. An inaudible test signal is added on top of a normal audio signal of an electronic device. A mix of the test signal and the normal audio signal is converted to a digital signal which is processed by a type of Fourier transformation, e.g. the Goertzel algorithm, to derive the magnitude of the digital signal at the test signal frequency. The derived magnitude is used to gain knowledge about the functionality of the acoustic transducer and its electrical connection to the electric device, as well as a common audio path.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2013Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignee: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V.Inventors: Yvonne Gaiser, Kurt Bauer

Publication number: 20060085369Abstract: A knowledge transfer approach is assessed by assigning multiple situation attributes for the knowledge transfer approach. Furthermore, a plurality of communication forms are attributed to the knowledge transfer approach. Based on the situation attributes and the communication form attributes, multiple relationships are derived. Based on these relationships, a compatibility value is determined between the situation attributes and the communication form attributes. Therefore, for a particular knowledge transfer approach, a compatibility value provides an indicator of the effectiveness of the knowledge transfer approach to a customer's specific needs. Moreover, the with multiple knowledge transfer approaches, the effectiveness of these approaches can be assessed by a calculation of compatibility values for each approach and the comparison of the different values.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2005Publication date: April 20, 2006Inventors: Kurt Bauer, Thomas Hutzschenreuter, Angelika Vieth, Florian Listner

Publication number: 20060047672Abstract: The generation and adjustment of a training object allows for the customized training for a user on a software application. Based on a user identification, the training object may be generated to cover targeted topics for learning while avoiding extraneous subject matter. The training object is generated using knowledge transfer modules composed of knowledge transfer objects. The selection of the knowledge transfer objects is determined based on attributes associated with a user identification and factors associated with the identified user. Therefore, when the user accesses and executes a training object associated with the specific user, the training objects provide directed and targeted training.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2005Publication date: March 2, 2006Inventors: Michael Habon, Joerg Habon, Harald Falter, Axel Luther, Ursula Markus, Uwe Sester, Paul Tanzer, Rainer Zinow, Kurt Bauer

Publication number: 20060047544Abstract: A software training approach utilizes customized training activities to provide effective customized learning operations for users. Through an association of the user identifier, such as a login, an application determines when an activity occurs requiring training. Based on the user identifier, a customized training activities are retrieved and executed providing a software training based on the specific user in immediate proximity to the actual operation of the computing activity being the subject of the training operations.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2005Publication date: March 2, 2006Inventors: Michael Habon, Joerg Habon, Harald Falter, Axel Luther, Ursula Markus, Uwe Sester, Paul Tanzer, Rainer Zinow, Kurt Bauer

Patent number: 6024477Abstract: A process and a device for accelerated execution of a program by a stored-program controller (SPC) on a machine. The machine has actuators actuated by the SPC to perform machine actions and sensors to output machine status signals. According to the process, the subsequent actuator action is triggered independently of whether the machine action caused by the previous actuator triggering has been completed. For this purpose, a status evaluation device is connected between the SPC and the machine, which receives the actuator triggering signals and the status signals output by the machine, and which generates therefrom an acknowledge signal indicating the completion of a machine action caused by actuator triggering; the acknowledge signal is supplied to the SPC as feedback signals describing the machine.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1997Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Franz Riedmueller, Hans-Peter Bartenschlager, Thomas Jost

Patent number: 5511974Abstract: An atmospheric reticulated ceramic foam burner which is retrofittable into existing residential heat exchanger designs has been developed to reduce NO.sub.x and CO emissions. It is operated in a blue flame or substantially radiant mode. The ceramic foam tile used is a three dimensional, web-like structure composed of ceramic struts and voids (or pores) which is permeable and rigid and can withstand the high temperatures found in domestic burners. The foam tile is positioned over a manifold, and is the outlet for the manifold. The manifold inlet is a venturi so that incoming gas is mixed with air in the correct range of proportions before passing through the foam. The pressures used, relative to tile porosity, are such that the gas-air mixture does not burn until it has passed all the way through the foam tile, resulting in a flame above the tile. Additional quantities of (secondary) air can be introduced around the burner to mix and burnout the products of combustion.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1994Date of Patent: April 30, 1996Assignee: Burnham Properties CorporationInventors: Michael W. Gordon, Mikhail Zlatkin, Kurt A. Bauer, Kurt D. Oswald

Patent number: 5195206Abstract: A windshield cleaning system with a washing system includes a washing liquid pipe non-rotatably fixed in a bore of a wiper shaft, the end of which washing liquid pipe is inserted into a pot-like connecting piece protected against twisting. Thereby the connecting piece is bracelessly centered with respect to the end of the washing liquid pipe so that it can also make a possible wobbling movement of the end in radial direction. Thus a long lifetime of the connecting point between the rotating end of the washing liquid pipe and the non-rotatable connecting piece is achieved.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1990Date of Patent: March 23, 1993Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Eckhardt Schmid, Bernd Walther

Patent number: 5176044Abstract: A connection and two step method of manufacturing is disclosed for a drive unit for a wiper arm system which consists of a wiper shaft mounted in a bore through a crank arm. The wiper shaft is formed with a groove disposed within the thickness of the crank arm and material from one surface of the crank arm is displaced to form an annular recess which causes crank arm material adjacent the groove to be radially displaced into a groove formed in the wiper shaft to form an axial holding element. The radial distance R1 of the recess from the crank arm bore is substantially equal to the axial distance A1 of the groove below the one crank arm surface to facilitate the extruding process. Knurled areas on the shaft on either side of the groove are press fit into the crank arm bore as a first step in assembling the shaft to the crank arm, bringing a flange into abutment against the other surface of the crank arm.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1992Date of Patent: January 5, 1993Assignee: SWF Auto-Electric GmbHInventors: Kurt Bauer, Wilhelm Dorr, Reinhard Edele, Werner Pfitzenmaier, Christian Roth, Eckhardt Schmid
