  • Patent number: 6974161
Abstract: A coupling device for connecting a filter element to a filter conduit has male and female couplings each having a passageway for fluid. The male coupling is secured to the filter conduit and has at least two radially projecting lugs. The female coupling is secured to the filter element and has at least two latching tabs for engaging the lugs. A spring is operatively mounted on the male coupling and interferes with the radially projecting lugs. The spring is disposed so as to engage at least one latching tab when the male and female couplings are moved toward each other. The spring urges the latching tabs to rotate in a first angular direction thereby causing the tab to latch to a lug of the male coupling.

  • Patent number: 6730218
Abstract: A coupling device for connecting a filter element to a fluid conduit has a male coupling secured to either the fluid conduit or the filter element. The male coupling also has at least two radially projecting tabs. A polymeric female coupling engages with the male coupling for securing the filter element on the fluid conduit. The female coupling also has lands for receiving the tabs. The male and female couplings each have a passageway for fluid and that generally defines an axial direction. Each tab is configured for distributing an axial force generally throughout the tab and laterally relative the axial direction so that either the land being forced against the tab or the tab being forced against the land does not damage the female coupling and as long as the filter element remains secured to the fluid conduit.

  • Patent number: 5667679
Abstract: A liquid filter having a quick-disconnect filter element mount includes a filter vessel having an inlet nozzle and an outlet nozzle. The vessel has a tube sheet which spans across at least a part of the vessel and defines an influent chamber in communication with the inlet nozzle and a filtrate chamber in communication with the outlet nozzle. A plurality of support core elements are connected to the tube sheet at a fixed end. A free end of the core elements extends into the influent chamber and includes a retaining barrel mounted to the free end. Filter elements, such as cartridge type elements which have a central opening therein are positioned on the core elements, against the tube sheet. The quick disconnect mount includes a post having a retaining body adapted to be releasably connected to the retaining barrel in the support core, to retain the filter element in place on the support core, in engagement with the tube sheet.

  • Patent number: 5346624
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing ionic and suspended particulate impurities from a liquid by directing the liquid through a bed including a mixture of ion exchange fibers and inert fibers. The bed also may include a mixture of finely ion exchange particles. The bed may be a precoat layer that is applied on a filter support.

  • Patent number: 4707257
Abstract: An air/water distributor underdrain assembly for providing a uniform distribution and metering of backwash air and/or water through a filter bed. The distributor assembly includes a distributor member which defines a distributor chamber for receipt of backwash air and/or water thereinto. A plurality of first and second spaced apart openings extend through the distributor member. A shroud extends downwardly into the distributor chamber from each of the first openings in fluid communication with an intermediate portion of the distributor chamber for directing backwash water therethrough. Backwash air collected in a gas compartment formed in an upper portion of the distributor chamber is directed through the second openings.
