Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed which is capable of providing pressure shocks of from 1 to 20 Hz at a pressure of 0.1 to 5 bar, to the lungs of a mammal. The apparatus includes a source of pressure gas, a gas supply duct leading from the source to the mammal application site, and a system communicating with the gas supply duct, the system having a selectively actuated valve which can provide gaseous access from the gas source along the gas supply duct and to a second valve, the position of the second valve being controlled by the actuation of the first valve such that the second valve alternately provides access from the gas source to a pressure vessel, and from the pressure vessel to the mammal application site.
