  • Publication number: 20180314333
Abstract: Systems and methods for force-based object manipulation and haptic sensations are disclosed. One disclosed method includes the steps of receiving a first signal indicating a location of a user interaction and receiving a second signal indicating a first force. The method also includes, if the location of the user interaction corresponds to an object displayed on a display screen: outputting a first haptic signal to a haptic output device to cause a first haptic effect; and outputting a second haptic signal to the haptic output device to cause a second haptic effect if the first force meets or exceeds a first force threshold.

  • Publication number: 20180067561
Abstract: A system that unlocks itself or another device or electronic media enters an unlocked mode by playing a predetermined haptic effect and in response receiving a gesture based interaction input from a user. The system compares the interaction input to a stored predefined interaction input and transitions to the unlocked mode if the interaction input substantially matches the stored predefined interaction input.

  • Publication number: 20150323994
Abstract: A system is provided that generates haptic effects using a haptic output device. The system receives a haptic effect definition that defines the haptic effect. The system determines, at run-time, whether the haptic effect definition will produce an output effect as designed/desired using the haptic output device. When it is determined that the haptic effect definition will not produce the output effect as designed/desired, the system modifies, at run-time, the haptic effect definition to ensure that the haptic effect produced corresponds to the designed/desired haptic effect.

  • Publication number: 20140320402
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatuses using feedback from internal sensors to adjust haptic effect output are provided. In an embodiment, a method of generating a haptic output effect in an apparatus with a haptic effect output device is provided. A haptic effect output initiates with the haptic effect output device. The method includes receiving feedback data from an input sensor. The method compares feedback data from the input sensor to expected results of the haptic effect output. The method adjusts operating parameters of the haptic effect output device. The haptic effect output continues.
