  • Patent number: 7709025
Abstract: Enteric film coating systems for orally ingestible substrates such as pharmaceutical tablets and dietary supplements are disclosed. In preferred aspects, the enteric film coatings include an ethylcellulose dispersion and a substantially gastro-insoluble pore former such as sodium alginate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 24, 2005
Date of Patent: May 4, 2010
    Assignee: BPSI Holdings, Inc.
Inventors: Kurt Fegely, Simon Tasker, Lawrence Martin
  • Publication number: 20070048377
Abstract: This invention is directed to a controlled release formulation for an oral dosage form that is formulated into a swellable, hydrophilic matrix. The controlled release formulation contains a mixture of hypromellose and polyvinyl acetate phthalate and allows pharmaceutically active ingredients combined therewith to be released in a controlled release manner.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20060251724
Abstract: Thermoformed or hot melt extruded pharmaceutical compositions containing an active pharmaceutical ingredient, acrylic enteric polymer and plasticizer are disclosed. Methods of making the same as well as various pharmaceutical dosage forms are also disclosed. In preferred aspects, a thermoformable mixture is in a powder form and includes an active ingredient, plasticizer, acrylic polymer and optional excipients which enhance the performance of the extrudate after being incorporated into a dosage form.

  • Publication number: 20060134216
Abstract: Dry, enteric, film-coating compositions and aqueous dispersions containing the same are disclosed. When applied to orally-ingestible substrates such as oral solid dosage forms, the film coatings are capable of preventing the substrates from disintegrating in media with pH values from about 1 to about 4.5 or higher values. One preferred film-coating composition contains a micronized intermediate comprised of an acrylic resin and talc. Advantageously and surprisingly, the preferred film-coating composition does not contain an alkalizing agent.
