    Abstract: Implantable drug delivery devices are provided which are adapted to be installed adjacent to at least a portion of an orthopedic prosthetic device implanted on a surgically prepared bone section of a patient. For example, the prosthetic device may be a hip joint replacement or knee joint replacement. The drug delivery device may include a body having a core formed from a non-biodegradable material formed in the shape of a sleeve and having an inner surface and an outwardly directed outer surface, wherein the outer surface has a drug formulation for release thereof into the body of the animal following implantation of the prosthetic device within the body of the animal. The outer surface may define one or more pockets for holding the drug formulation.
