  • Patent number: 5367146
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring and limiting the operational temperature of physical and technical equipment includes supplying a heating device with at least one test pulse of energy and the effect of the test pulse on the temperature course of the equipment is compared to a characteristic operating line that is to be monitored. The comparison dictates where further energy can be supplied to the device or whether the energy supply is to be switched off. Such monitoring and control can be carried out periodically, without interrupting the operation of the equipment. The invention can be used to monitor the degree to which a heater is filled with a heat transfer medium; and is also able to detect impermissible heat dissipation levels.

  • Patent number: 4422654
Abstract: A fluidically operable hollow rotary clamping apparatus such as for use in lathes, has a housing wall and a piston portion located therein with the surface thereof together with the seal packing secured to the housing wall form a double-acting cylinder. This double-acting cylinder is impacted via two pressure medium inlets. A flange secured to the housing wall and the piston portion which is displaceable in only longitudinal direction, each support a group of ball bearings in which a rotary part is mounted. This rotary part contains symmetrically arranged gearwheels of a racked-bar differential drive, whereby the outer pair of gearwheels acts on a pair of racked bars on a guide tube and the inner gearwheel having a larger or smaller diameter and a greater or lesser number of teeth acts through slots in the guide tube on a racked bar on the actuation tube. The actuation tube is in operational engagement with a collet or the like.

  • Patent number: 4347679
Abstract: In a battery-operated electric release device for fire-arms having an electronic switch 11 arranged in line between a first capacitor 8 and an electromagnet 9. The battery 3 is connected to the capacitor with no additional mechanically operated switch arranged therebetween. The electronic switch 11 is fired by discharge of a second capacitor 14 through a trigger controlled mechanical switch 15. The second capacitor 14 is provided with a voltage divider 12, 13 so that its charging time is greater than that of the first capacitor 8, whereby the fire arm cannot be prematurely discharged.

  • Patent number: 4275295
Abstract: PCT No. PCT/CH78/00023 Sec. 371 Date May 23, 1979 Sec. 102(e) Date May 23, 1979 PCT Filed Oct. 2, 1978 PCT Pub. No. WO79/00180 PCT Pub. Date Apr. 19, 1979In the measuring and control technics, indicators for a limit value and measurement value working for example on an optoelectronic basis are used to determine magnitudes of physical and chemical nature. For solving such problems, particularly in fields where there are risks of explosion, a reference light beam (20 to 23) is used in parallel to the measuring light beam (13,15 to 17) representing the magnitude measured. A difference signal (36) is obtained resulting from both light beams and representing the magnitude of the information. With this signal, indicators of universal use for limit value and measurement value can be built, working in a precise and reliable way, even in severe operating conditions, by using preferably light guides (15,17,21 to 23).
