  • Patent number: 4954004
Abstract: The invention relates to a releasable coupling between a male element and a female element. The coupling comprises a split clamp ring that is ranged to be received in corresponding annular recesses in the male element and female element, whereby the ring shall have one wedge surface to engage with a support surface in one recess on the male element and another wedge surface obliquely, disposed from the first wedge surface to engage with a support surface in the other recess in the female element. By applying a circumferentially directed force to the end portions of the split ring, it will be possible to achieve a locking engagement between the ring and its matching recesses, thus assembling the male and female elements to each other.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 15, 1989
Date of Patent: September 4, 1990
    Assignee: AB Sandvik Coromant
    Inventors: Kurt H. A. E. Faber, Ute M. I. Faber, Knut Faber, Inken A. H. Faber, Andrea J. Faber

  • Patent number: 4343576
Abstract: The present invention relates to a boring device for boring internal surfaces of hollow workpieces of the kind which comprises radially adjustable insert-provided holders, there being provided pressure means, such as steering pins so as to effect radial adjustment of the insert holder from an outer active working position to an inactive position. The radial adjustment occurs by having each insert holder via said steering pins supported against a bushing of non-circular cross section actuatable by a shaft member centered within the bushing, said bushing upon its rotation effecting said radial adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4149821
Abstract: A rotary drill comprises a shank, two axially extending chip removal recesses, and at least two radially oriented cutting inserts. One insert is peripherally located and is arranged adjacent one of the chip removal recesses. The edge of the peripheral insert extends radially so as to form the wall of the hole to be drilled. Another insert is located radially inwardly of the peripheral insert and is arranged adjacent the other chip removal recess. The inserts extend axially to generally the same extent. The inner insert is offset from a 180 degree relationship with the peripheral insert by an angle, which angle is of such magnitude that the drill is radially balanced.
