  • Publication number: 20190159036
Abstract: Network planning based on collected crowd-sourced access point quality and selection data can optimize access point frequency and/or bandwidth selection. A cloud-based application can be utilized in conjunction with a mobile device to build a database of access point quality and thresholds suitable for real-time and other jitter-sensitive services. The mobile device jitter measurements and selection thresholds can be collected at a cloud platform, which creates an access point performance and selection threshold profile from which the network can facilitate access point frequency and/or bandwidth selections.

  • Publication number: 20190104430
Abstract: Utilization of collected crowd-sourced access point quality and selection data for intelligent network selection can optimize access point device selection. A cloud-based application can be utilized in conjunction with a mobile device to build a database of access point quality and thresholds suitable for real-time and other jitter-sensitive services. In one embodiment, a first mobile device can receive access point data associated with a second mobile device. The access point data associated with the second mobile device can then inform the first mobile device on whether to communicate with the access point device or utilized cellular communication.

  • Patent number: 10219261
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a control signal to a self organizing network controller, are disclosed. For example, the method implemented via a processor receives a change, determines whether the change to at least one network element maintains an acceptable level for one or more service quality metrics based on a predicted service quality metric calculated using a modeling function, generates a control signal based on the determining, and transmits the control signal to the self organizing network controller to cause the self organizing network controller to configure the at least one network element in a communication network in accordance with the control signal.

  • Publication number: 20190037444
Abstract: Detection of an unbalanced network load and redistribution of network traffic to balance the network load is provided herein. Load balancing across different radios in the same sector of a cell site can be facilitated through detection of the unbalance network load and changes to one or more parameters can be made to rebalance the network load. After radios within a sector are more evenly balanced, network load balancing across sectors can be facilitated. The balancing can be performed to improve system performance, reduce a dropped call rate, as well as to achieve other benefits that can provide an improved user experience as compared to systems that do not attempt to balance the network load.

  • Publication number: 20180324763
Abstract: A more efficient network can be achieved using channel allocation strategies within a wireless network. A network device can receive several data points from a mobile device including resource request data, access condition data, and location data. Once the network device has received the aforementioned data points, the network device can identify channels that are conducive to a heightened quality of service for a resource being requested based on a signal attenuation associated with the channel. The network device can then facilitate a channel selection in response to an assessment of the data points and identifying a channel for the resource.

  • Publication number: 20180270677
Abstract: Techniques that facilitate mobile device self-optimizing technology selection thresholds for a wireless communication system are provided. In one example, a method comprises: generating, at a first time, first information in a repository of information specific to and stored at the apparatus, wherein the first information comprises an identifier for a first access point device and a determined acceptable signal strength usable to obtain an acceptable jitter value between the apparatus and the first access point device; and initiating a defined type of communication via the first access point device, at a second time, based on a first determination that a detected signal strength at a third time satisfies a defined condition relative to the acceptable signal strength, wherein the second time is after the first time and wherein the third time is between the first time and the second time.

  • Patent number: 9918248
Abstract: Service continuity when a user equipment (UE) employing local breakout mechanisms at a femto access point (FAP) for a communication session and moves out of the femto coverage area is disclosed. In particular, a network change detection component can be employed to detect when the UE, attached to the FAP, changes its connection from the femto network to the macro network. Further, an active communication session can exist between the UE and a device/service/application on a local Area network (LAN) connected to a FAP, and/or the Internet, which utilizes local breakout at the FAP. When the UE moves out of the femto network, a context management component can be employed to seamlessly resume the communication session, via the macro network.
