  • Patent number: 7053622
Abstract: The invention relates to measuring equipment and method for mapping the geology including a transmitter circuit with a current source for generating an electric current and a transmitter coil; a switch for connecting the current source to the transmitter coil during operation so that an electric current is generated in it, with the current building up a magnetic field in the formation, and for cutting off this current again so that the built-up magnetic field in the formation decays; and a receiving circuit with a receiving coil for registering the voltage induced over the receiving coil. There is a preamplifier for amplifying the registered voltage (VRcoil) from the receiving coil and the second electrical switch for disconnecting the connection between the receiving coil and the preamplifier, a measuring equipment can be provided that is so compact that it can be used for airborne transient sounding.

  • Patent number: 5337838
Abstract: A method and an apparatus serve to take and analyze level determined samples of pore gas/liquid, e.g. water from a subterranean formation, in which a borehole is drilled and pore gas/liquid samples are conveyed at a desired depth into a cavity in the drill string(1). The samples are analyzed in two steps, where they are first analyzed in a sample chamber (18) which is detachably mounted in the drill string during drilling, and which contains a plurality of probes for in situ analysis of the samples and transmission of the analysis results to the surface of the ground where they are recorded. The samples themselves are then pumped up to the surface of the ground by means of a pump assembly (20). The samples are now analyzed at the surface of the ground for further components, e.g. organic and toxic substances, just as the in situ analyses in the sample chamber are repeated at the surface of the ground.

  • Patent number: 4912415
Abstract: A sonde has an at least approximately cylindrical drill-stem member, whereby the drill-stem member may be coupled with other drill-stem members into a drill string. A spiral winding is longitudinally about the drill-stem member for conveying drilled out earth up to a surface of the earth when the drill-stem member is rotated into the earth, whereby the drill-stem member is an auger. At least one longitudinal surface portion of the drill-stem member is an electrical insulator that extends inwardly of the surface portion at least part of a radius of the drill-stem member. At least one measuring electrode is embedded in the electrical insulator. A connecting arrangement is in the drill-stem member for connecting the measuring electrode to electric operation and measuring equipment, whereby the auger is also an electrically logging sonde.
