  • Patent number: 11391751
Abstract: Impact or acceleration sensor, which contains a liquid droplet and is designed such that the position and/or distribution of the liquid indicates whether an impact or any other acceleration of a predetermined minimum magnitude has occurred, includes: first and second foils, a cavity disposed between the foil faces of the foils and at least one retaining structure disposed on the foil face of the first and/or second foil and functions to maintain the liquid in a predetermined first sub-volume of the cavity. The retaining structure is a region of the first and/or second foil formed as a local elevation, depression or irregularity of the foil face, which forms a passable barrier for the wetting and/or contacting of the first and/or second foil by the liquid and defines an area piece of the foil face of the first and/or second foil corresponding to the first sub-volume.

  • Patent number: 7563310
Abstract: A dehumidifier for an electrical-equipment air intake has an outer housing wall and a floor of a material with a high specific thermal conductivity downwardly closing the outer housing wall, having a downwardly tapering funnel-shaped inner surface formed with a central downwardly open port, and having a rounded edge where the surface meets the port. An inner air-permeable housing inside the outer housing wall holds a moisture-absorbing mass so that air drawn in through the port can pass through the mass and then into a space between the inner and outer housings. A moisture sensor is provided between the housings and a heater in the mass. A controller connected between the heater and the sensor energizes the heater and cooks moisture out of the mass such that the moisture condenses on the floor and runs over the edge out through the port.

  • Patent number: 7441834
Abstract: A wind deflector for a motor vehicle roof which is movable between a rest position and an operating position, the bearing means containing a spring arrangement which pretensions the wind deflector into the raised operating position. The spring arrangement has a first range of motion of low spring force and a second range of motion of higher spring force, which are assigned to a first adjustment region of the wind deflector out of its raised operating position and a second adjustment region of the wind deflector into its lowered rest position. The wind deflector is lowerable in the range of motion of low spring force by the force of the head wind and in the second range of motion of higher spring force the actuating means with an adjustment force which exceeds the force of the head wind is active for lowering the wind deflector.

  • Patent number: 5484184
Abstract: An openable vehicle roof with a cover, by which a roof opening can be alternately closed or at least partially opened. By a flexible screen, a visible gap on each lateral side, resulting from the pivoting out of the cover above a fixed roof panel, is covered. The top end of the screen is connected to the cover near a respective side edge of the cover, and its bottom end is supported to slide lengthwise in a guideway connected to the fixed roof panel. By the construction of the screen, a simple installation and a space-saving arrangement is made possible.

  • Patent number: 5210443
Abstract: A process for parallel control of tap transformers in which individual voltage regulators of parallel operating transformers are connected to a single parallel processor by serial data lines and the measured values of the voltage and current amplitudes and the phase angles are transmitted by the voltage regulators to the parallel processor, an interference variable for each voltage regulator is calculated in the parallel processor from the partial load current and the circulating reactive current and is transmitted with the partial load current by the serial data lines to the voltage regulators, and each voltage regulator then calculates an LDC variable for load drop compensation, by summing the measured voltage, the received interference variable and the LDC variable provides a controlled variable or voltage value which constitutes the new set point with respect to which the voltage regulator then controls the transformer to which it is assigned.

  • Patent number: 5128605
Abstract: A multiphase stepping transformer wherein a closed vacuum interrupter at each phase is opened before a respective stepping switch is advanced is controlled by continuously monitoring current flow through the interrupters. Before the interrupters are opened an error signal is generated unless all of the monitored current flows lie to one side of a predetermined threshold. After the interrupters are opened an error signal is generated if current flow is detected through any of the interrupters. Advance of the stepping switches is blocked on generation of any error signal. The apparatus includes for each interrupter a respective current detector, a light-emitting diode energized by the respective detector, a light receiver associated with each diode, and a light-transmitting cable connecting each diode with the respective receiver.

  • Patent number: 5046435
Abstract: This invention describes a process and apparatus for the combustion of wastes, wherein the wastes are combusted in a combustion chamber and the temperature of the combustion chamber is controlled by changing the amount of combustion air as a function of the slag flow rate. The combustion can be carried out substoichiometrically in a reducing atmosphere because of additives which are introduced into the slag in the form of fine dusts. On account of the substoichiometric operation, the requirement for fluid wastes and/or supplemental fuel is drastically reduced, the capacity of the rotary tubular kiln is increased and nitrogen oxides formation is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4794871
Abstract: Method and installation or apparatus for the treatment of material contaminated with toxic organic compounds in which the material is subjected to a thermal treatment to destroy or decompose the toxic compounds, the thermal treatment being carried out in two stages, i.e. a first stage in which the contaminated material is heated to a temperature of not more than 500.degree. C. under pyrolysis conditions in an indirectly heated rotary furnace, and a second stage in which the solid residue remaining in the first stage is heated in a second furnace to a temperature of at least 500.degree. C. until the concentration of toxic organic compounds in the residue is in the ppb range and preferably 1 ppb or less, and in which the gaseous reaction products of the first and second stages are supplied to a combustion chamber and there burnt at a temperature which is sufficient to completely destroy all the toxic organic compounds contained therein.

  • Patent number: 4550285
Abstract: A load-switching circuit for a tapped transformer utilizes identical netws of antiparallel thyristors bridged by commutating networks having a condenser in series with a damping impedance. According to the invention, the blocking of one pair of thyristors causes the energization of a relay to operate a switch contact shunting the damping impedance of the blocking pair so that its condenser functions as a voltage spike surge suppressor.

  • Patent number: 3944913
Abstract: Tap-changing means for tapped transformers include thyristors for effecting tap-changes. Additional tap-changing means which include electric fuses, current-limiting resistors and a relay-controlled standby thyristor trigger system prevent the occurrence of dangerous short-circuit currents in case of malfunction of the principal thyristor trigger means. The circuitry further includes a pair of voltage bucking relays energized by a pair of voltage sensors responsive to the voltage prevailing between the taps of the transformer winding between which a tap-changing operation is intended.
