  • Patent number: 4287100
Abstract: Esters of 1,2,3,6-tetrahydrobenzyl alcohol have been found to exhibit powerful odorous notes such as floral, woody and fruity notes, rendering such compounds valuable as fragrance materials either alone or in compositions. These 1,2,3,6-tetrahydrobenzyl alcohol esters are prepared by reacting 1,2,3,6-tetrahydrobenzyl alcohol with an appropriate organic acid.

  • Patent number: 4168248
Abstract: The perfume compositions of this invention include one or more of 3-methylnonan-3-ol, 3-methyl-1-nonen-3-ol, 3-methylnonan-1-ol, 3-methyl-2-nonen-1-ol and the monocarboxylic acid esters of these alcohols. The perfume compositions also contain a perfume component, the odoriferous properties of which are enhanced and modified by said alcohols or esters of the alcohols without chemical reaction.

  • Patent number: 4128101
Abstract: 3-Ethoxy-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde 2,2-dimethyl-propanediol acetal has a unique flavor and aroma which markedly enhance the flavor and aroma of tobacco products and comestibles. Unlike ethyl vanillin from which it is derived, the acetal has a less pronounced vanilla or ethyl vanillin odor and taste and a more intense chocolate by-note.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4077916
Abstract: The perfume compositions of this invention contain hexyloxyacetonitrile which contributes unique olfactory properties reminiscent of irone with a flowery, herbaceous by-note. Hexyloxyacetonitrile can be incorporated readily in a wide variety of perfume compositions to enhance, diffuse and prolong the odor characteristics of such compositions.

  • Patent number: 3975309
Abstract: The effect of the characteristic odor note of Oak Moss in the combination of components in perfume compositions can be achieved by substituting 2,4-dihydroxy-3-methyl-benzaldehyde, produced in a one step synthesis from readily available material, for Oak Moss which is available only in limited quantities at high cost.
