  • Publication number: 20220048135
Abstract: Numerous embodiments are disclosed. In one, a laser-processing apparatus includes a positioner arranged within a beam path along which a beam of laser energy is propagatable. A controller may be used to control an operation of the positioner to deflect the beam path within first and second primary angular ranges, and to deflect the beam path to a plurality of angles within each of the first and second primary angular ranges. In another, an integrated beam dump system includes a frame; and a pickoff mirror and beam dump coupled to the frame. In still another, a wavefront correction optic includes a mirror having a reflective surface having a shape characterized by a particular ratio of fringe Zernike terms Z4 and Z9. Many more embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11185957
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention can be characterized as a method for controlling a multi-axis machine tool that includes obtaining a preliminary rotary actuator command (wherein the rotary actuator command has frequency content exceeding a bandwidth of a rotary actuator), generating a processed rotary actuator command based, at least in part, on the preliminary rotary actuator command, the processed rotary actuator command having frequency content within a bandwidth of the rotary actuator and generating a first linear actuator command and a second linear actuator command based, at least in part, on the processed rotary actuator command. The processed rotary actuator command can be output to the rotary actuator, the first linear actuator command can be output to a first linear actuator and the second linear actuator command can be output to a second linear actuator.

  • Publication number: 20180373959
Abstract: Methods and arrangements involving portable user devices such smartphones and wearable electronic devices are disclosed, as well as other devices and sensors distributed within an ambient environment. Some arrangements enable a user to perform an object recognition process in a computationally- and time-efficient manner. Other arrangements enable users and other entities to, either individually or cooperatively, register or enroll physical objects into one or more object registries on which an object recognition process can be performed. Still other arrangements enable users and other entities to, either individually or cooperatively, associate registered or enrolled objects with one or more items of metadata. A great variety of other features and arrangements are also detailed.

  • Patent number: 10152634
Abstract: Arrangements are detailed to process imagery of an object, captured by a camera, based on contextual data that at least partially characterizes a condition of the object when the imagery was captured. Contextual data can be obtained directly by a sensor or can be derived by pre-processing the captured imagery. The captured imagery can be processed to detect features such as digital watermarks, fingerprints, barcodes, etc. A great number of other features and arrangements are also detailed.

  • Publication number: 20150310601
Abstract: In some arrangements, product packaging is digitally watermarked over most of its extent to facilitate high-throughput item identification at retail checkouts. Imagery captured by conventional or plenoptic cameras can be processed (e.g., by GPUs) to derive several different perspective-transformed views—further minimizing the need to manually reposition items for identification. One claim recites a system for capturing imagery of retail items supported by a fixture, comprising: at least one camera unit having at least one operative camera to capture imagery of at least a portion of the retail items supported by the fixture; and one or more processors configured to process the captured imagery to discern identifying information associated with the imaged retail items. In one implementation the at least one camera unit comprises a plurality of cameras, wherein a field of view of a first one of the plurality of cameras overlaps with a field of view of a second one of the plurality of camera units.
