  • Publication number: 20140224969
Abstract: A detector has a frame, a window for allowing radiation to enter, outlook sensors for sensing radiation, a unit for processing outlook sensor signals and outlook mirrors that are shaped and mounted in the frame for reflecting radiation from outside detection zones onto the outlook sensor, some of which are mounted near the window such that they face each other. When the detector is installed and operated as intended, the perpendicular to the inner window surface in its centroid of the perpendicular projections of the mirror surfaces of the near-mounted mutually-facing outlook mirrors onto the inner window surface intersects the horizontal plane at floor level outside. Any sector of the horizontal plane around said perpendicular without the detection zones of the near-mounted mutually-facing outlook mirrors extends over 160° at most.

  • Publication number: 20110037971
Abstract: A device for detecting smoke based on the principle of optical scattered light measurements has a light emitting device, configured to issue a temporal succession of light pulses. A first light pulse has a first spectral distribution and a second light pulse has a second spectral distribution that is different from the first spectral distribution. A light receiver receives a first scattered light from the first light pulse and a second scattered light from the second light pulse, and generates a first output signal that is indicative for the first scattered light, and a second output signals that is indicative for the second scattered light. An evaluation unit compares the first output signal with the second output signal. In a preferred embodiment of the device, the light emitter and the light receiver are arranged directly next to one another.

  • Patent number: 4770356
Abstract: A filament winder of the automatic exchange type in which chucks are brought successively into winding positions relative to a friction drive roller and thread is transferred from a package on an outgoing chuck to a bobbin on an incomming chuck. Each chuck moves along its own predetermined path towards and away from the friction drive roller. A free thread length is created between the friction drive roller and the outgoing chuck and this free thread length is intercepted by thread catching means on the incoming chuck.

  • Patent number: 4755973
Abstract: A space surveillance apparatus includes at least one source of sonic radiation driven by a driver circuit as well as a processing or evaluation circuit. Upon movement of an object, or presence of a foreign object within a monitored space, the processing circuit triggers an alarm signal. Each sonic source defines the volume of its own monitored space, according to the equation:L=D.sup.2 /(4.lambda.),wherein:L=Length of main direction of radiation of the monitored space;D=Diameter of diaphragm of sonic source; and.lambda.=Wavelength of acoustic wave. The driver circuit drives the sonic source either in continuous mode, or in pulsed mode, and either at a constant wavelength or at a variable wavelength, i.e. in frequency modulation.
