  • Patent number: 10375272
Abstract: In one example, image forming quality is stabilized by monitoring aging characteristics of an image forming system including its set of supplies. When an age-related triggering event occurs, a set of modified parameters are substituted for a set of standardized parameters. This substitution increases the image forming quality while sacrificing some visual acuity based on user preferences from psychometric testing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 22, 2016
Date of Patent: August 6, 2019
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Marvin D Nelson, Kurt Robert Bengtson

  • Patent number: 9264629
Abstract: Suppressing flicker in digital images includes deriving pixel values from a non-content area of a digital image, estimating flicker values within the non-content area, and suppressing flicker throughout the digital image based on the estimated flicker values of the non-content area.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 4, 2014
Date of Patent: February 16, 2016
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.

  • Patent number: 8848249
Abstract: A method for creating an image to be printed is provided. A first halftone pattern and a second halftone pattern for respective first and second periodic clustered dot halftone regions of the image are selected. The regions have respective frequencies and one of the frequencies is higher than the other frequency. A transition region is determined. The transition region includes a boundary between the two regions and includes additional portions of the two regions beyond the boundary. The two halftone patterns are blended with each other in the transition region based on a blending ratio of the two halftones where the blending ratio changes as a function of distance between the edges of the transition region.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 29, 2011
Date of Patent: September 30, 2014
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Seong Jun Park, Jan Allebach, Mark Shaw, George Henry Kerby, Victor D Loewen, Kurt Robert Bengtson
