  • Patent number: 6059217
Abstract: In a winding apparatus for endless threads with a revolving disc (6) in the periphery of which at least two clamping chucks (8, 10) are rotatably supported and with a friction roll (2) the shaft of which as well as the shaft (12) of the revolving disc (6) are mounted at fixed locations in a frame, a shaft each (4, 12) is connected to a first drive device (120), and with a second drive device (40) respectively. Each clamping chuck is provided with its own third drive device (80), and a fourth drive device (100) respectively. The contacting pressure between the friction roll (2) and a respective clamping chuck each can be adjusted as a function of the diameter of a thread package being built on a clamping chuck.

  • Patent number: 5318232
Abstract: A thread winder includes a revolver on which two radially spaced mandrels are disposed for supporting thread-receiving tubes. Thread is wound onto one of the tubes located in a winding position and, when that tube is filled, the thread is transferred to the other, empty tube without interrupting the thread feed, by rotating the revolver. After the filled package is moved out of the winding position, a deflecting rod is swung to deflect the thread to a position where it can be grabbed by a transferring device. Then, the deflecting rod is swung away from the thread, and the transferring device is swung out to displace the thread toward a thread catcher disposed on the empty tube (or its mandrel), whereupon the thread is severed. A thread diverter is also swung out from the transferring device to shield the empty tube from the trailing end of the severed thread extending from the filled package.

  • Patent number: 4741485
Abstract: The winder is provided with thread divertor guides for both the upper and lower chucks with the angle of diversion not exceeding 120.degree.. The geometry of the winder is such that the respective chucks contact the contact member in separate sub-zones of the winding zone which are spaced apart by a narrow gap. The included angle between the imaginary lines joining the axis of each chuck in its respective rest position to the axis of the chuck when in contact with the contact member lies in a range of from 60.degree. to 175.degree.. The contact member when in the form of a friction drive roll has an external diameter of from 100 to 155 millimeters. When the contact member is in the form of a contact roll with each chuck having an independent drive, the roll may have a diameter in the range of from 60 to 80 millimeters.

  • Patent number: 4739940
Abstract: The method of forming an overwound thread transfer tail entails moving a thread guide carrier which supports a thread guide in a first direction against an abutment and permitting the thread guide carrier to recoil and thereby cause a return movement of the thread guide after striking said abutment. The apparatus for performing the method comprises a thread guide and a movable member movable in a predetermined direction and connected to the thread guide. An abutment serves for limiting movement of said movable member in such predetermined direction, and structure is provided for moving the movable member against the abutment in a manner such as to cause recoil of the movable member.

  • Patent number: 4739694
Abstract: The thread winding machine includes a piston and cylinder unit, comprising a cylinder housing with first and second chambers and a dividing structure between said first and second chambers. A piston is movable longitudinally in the first chamber and a piston extension projects from said piston towards the second chamber. A port in the dividing structure receives the piston extension when the piston is near the dividing structure, thereby separating said first and second chambers. A thread guide is connected to the piston of the piston and cylinder unit for movement in combination therewith.

  • Patent number: 4709866
Abstract: The winder is provided with a screen which is movable into a screening position over the lower chuck when a changeover to the upper chuck is to be performed. The screen carries a pivotally mounted guide element at the end which is pivotable into a thread guiding position to divert the thread towards the upper chuck as well as into a lowered position out of the path of the thread to screen the package on the lower chuck and particularly a trailing end of a thread from entangling with the thread on the upper chuck.

  • Patent number: 4641793
Abstract: The thread winding machine comprises a rotatable chuck having a thread catching device adjacent to a location for a bobbin tube upon the chuck. A thread guide engages the thread and moves it axially of the chuck into the catching device at a first speed and then onto the bobbin tube location at a second, higher speed. An overwound thread reserve or transfer tail is formed by moving the thread guide against a resilient damper, causing it to stop and rebound.

  • Patent number: 4598876
Abstract: In a thread winder comprising first and second chucks and a friction drive member selectively engageable by the chucks, there is provided a screening plate movable from a retracted position into an operative screening position between an idle position of the first chuck and the winding position of the second chuck which prevents thread tails dangling from a completed package on the first chuck from engaging and becoming entangled with the package forming upon the second, usually lower, chuck or the friction drive member. An auxiliary guide or deflector is provided for deflecting a thread during changeover of winding from the first, usually upper, chuck to the second, usually lower chuck. This auxiliary guide or deflector also cooperates with the screening plate to screen a package on the first chuck from a winding operation on the second chuck. A control system controls the retraction and advancement of the screening plate in response to operation of the winding machine.

  • Patent number: 4497450
Abstract: A filament winder of the automatic exchange type in which chucks are brought successively into winding positions relative to a friction drive roller and thread is transferred from a package on an outgoing chuck to a bobbin on an incoming chuck. Each chuck moves along its own predetermined path towards and away from the friction drive roller. A free thread length is created between the friction drive roller and the outgoing chuck and this free thread length is intercepted by thread catching means on the incoming chuck.

  • Patent number: 4309000
Abstract: The doffing system employs a doffing carriage which is reciprocable along rails to receive and carry bobbin packages away from the chucks of a winder. The carriage is constructed with a parallelogram linkage so as to have an upper frame portion raised and lowered while remaining horizontal in order to carry a bobbin package.

Abstract: The winding apparatus for endless filaments has axially shiftable chucks for the bobbin tubes. The chucks are arranged to pivot on a revolving disc and are brought into contact first with a central and non-displaceable accelerating ring and, subsequently, with a rotating friction drive drum. The revolving disc is provided with two openings through which the pivotable bobbin chucks pass.

  • Patent number: 4213573
Abstract: A bobbin revolver for winding textile filaments has a rotatable chuck carrier with a plurality of bobbin chucks. The carrier is rotatable on a central shaft to urge the chucks successively towards a friction drive drum which rotates bobbins on the chucks to wind filament packages thereon. A fluid coupling, comprising co-axial, relatively rotable parts having communicating passages therethrough, is provided around the shaft to pass pressure fluid to and/or from devices on the carrier. The fluid coupling is arranged so that there is no relative rotation of its parts during winding of a package, thereby avoiding disturbance of the contact pressure between a package and the friction drum through sliding friction between the coupling parts.
