  • Patent number: 4920997
Abstract: A car washing installation has several jet nozzles (20) for a cleaning fluid, if necessary mixed with chemical substances, arranged one next to the other transversely to the length of the car and moved past the car in its longitudinal direction. The jet nozzles (20) are designed as rotative nozzles that supply a point contact jet that emerges from the rotative nozzles at a maximum acute angle of about 30.degree. in relation to the axis of rotation of the nozzles. To ensure that all car surfaces are reliably cleaned, even when the car has a rugged surface, characterized by recesses, the jet nozzles (20) can be periodically moved along the profile of the car on a perpendicular plane to the longitudinal axis of the car.

  • Patent number: 4879137
Abstract: In an apparatus for electrostatically coating workpieces with an electrically conductive coating material, an intermediate isolation tank (V) is conencted by electrically insulating conduit lines (LVA, LVB, LZA, LZB) between an electrically grounded coating material supply and a high voltage spraying device atomizer (Z). When the apparatus is in operation, the conduit lines (LVA, LVB, LZA, LZB) are alternately filled and emptied, such that the grounded supply and the high voltage atomizer (Z) are continuously insulated from each other. One embodiment utilizes an isolation tank V' which includes a metering cylinder (DZ) having a displaceable piston (2) for adjusting the coating material capacity of the tank (V') to the amount required to coat a single workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4872616
Abstract: In an apparatus for the use of so-called water enamels or some other similarly conductive coating material, the electrical field for charging the sprayed particles is produced between the grounded spraying edge (6) of a bell-shaped atomizer (10) and a large number of external electrodes (10) inserted into an annular element (20) made of an insulating material.

  • Patent number: 4838311
Abstract: In the sequential coating of motor-vehicle bodies using a preprogrammed painter-robot, the paint is switched on and off by an automatically controlled pilot needle-valve (FNV) at predetermined times as a function of the relative positions of the robot and the motor-vehicle body. Return circuits including flow-control valves (DV1, DV2) actuated at predetermined times are provided which match the switching on and off of the pilot needle-valve (FNV) for avoiding unwanted pressure fluctuations.

  • Patent number: 4771949
Abstract: An electrostatic spray coating assembly (10) for atomizing electrically conductive material comprises a rotary atomizer spray head (12) having an annular atomizing spraying edge (14). An external housing (22) supports the spray head (12) and a feed line (18) supplies the material from a supply system to the spraying edge (14) of the spray head (12). The feed line (18) and the material supplied thereby and the spray head (12) are electrically grounded. Three needle-shaped charging electrodes (36) are in spaced relationship circumferentially at uniform angular intervals with respect to the spray head (12). The charging electrodes (36) are connected to a source of high voltage potential for producing an electrical field charging the conductive material. The charging electrodes (36) are positioned from the spraying edge (14) of the spray head (12) a predetermined radial distance (R) at least twice the diameter (d) of the spraying edge (14) of the spray head (12).

  • Patent number: 4518119
Abstract: A rotatable, electrically chargeable, substantially bell-shaped sprayer for producing a paint mist from an axially fed liquid paint such as 2-component lacquers, for an apparatus for the electrostatic application of sprayed charged particles of the paint mist onto an article, the sprayer having an annular coaxial flowover surface for the liquid paint and an annular lip which projects axially forwardly on a radial and axial outer edge portion of the flowover surface. The lip is provided on its radial inside with grooves for channeling the flow of the liquid paint, the grooves being uniformly distributed on the circumference and extend approximately in the direction of the flow of the liquid paint. The grooves terminate open at a spray position of the lip and intersect in pairs.

  • Patent number: 4440314
Abstract: In order to increase the dosing precision it is proposed to control the flow of the main component and thereby the measured flow of the main component is used as a variable desired value, and with the control of the flow of the secondary component the control value (the actual value) of the flow of the main component is used for determining or defining the desired value of the flow of the secondary component (which latter-mentioned value is proportional to this control value); as well as to use for this purpose a geared pump (P.sub.8) for the feeding of the main component to a servo controlled member or system (the geared pump being arranged between a pressure vessel (D.sub.S) and a measuring transducer (12)), an electrical machine M.sub.8, which is operable as a motor and drives the pump (P.sub.8) for the main component, which with the electrical machine M.sub.8 which is associated with it forms a regulating element, an electronic four-quadrant controller (16) for the machine (M.sub.
