  • Publication number: 20090205257
Abstract: A tilt in window with sashes movably mounted to the interior of the frame and inwardly pivotable. Each of the sashes is held within jamb channels by capture legs which overlap a portion of the interior side of the sashes to restrain the sashes from inward movement, when the window is normally closed. The sashes are movable within the jamb channels for a distance to permit sashes to be removed from being held by the retaining members. With such removal the sashes are able to be inwardly pivoted. In one embodiment, a bottom outwardly facing sill is sloped downward to prevent water accumulation with the sill being integrated with sloping jamb sections, in continuity with the sill. The frame has retention elements for snap in parallel placement of separate jamb members having channels with the capture legs for holding the sashes and channels for the counterbalance weights or springs.

  • Patent number: 7104010
Abstract: A glass holder for a jalousie window, including a body having two parallel side walls which define a slot, and two webs which extend substantially perpendicularly in opposite directions from a base of the slot walls. The body has a length and the webs each extend from a respective end of the body over a respective portion of the length of the body. Each web has an outer edge with a baffle that extends in a direction parallel the slot walls.

  • Patent number: 6973953
Abstract: A door having four lineal door frame components, each of the lineal components having a cross-section defining an interior space extending in a longitudinal direction of the linear components. Four symmetric, L-shaped members are provided that each have a corner portion and two posts that extend from the corner portion at a right angle to one another. The posts each have a length and a plurality of fins extending therefrom along at least portions of the length. A metal reinforcement member is arranged in the hollow portion of the lineal components so as to extend substantially along the entire length of the lineal components and leave an empty portion of the hollow section at each end of the lineal components, which empty portions have a length equal to at least the length of the posts of the L-shaped body. The posts of the L-shaped members are mounted in the free hollow portions of the lineal components so that at least some of the fins engage an interior surface of the lineal components.

  • Publication number: 20050066579
Abstract: A linear window operator having a receiver housing with an opening therein and a spring member adjacent the opening. The spring member projects upwardly in a rest position. A hinge bracket is provided which has a flexible member that extends to form a free end configured as a female receiver element. The receiver housing is mounted to the window frame and the hinge bracket is mounted to the window sash. A push rod is slidable through the opening in the receiver housing and has a first, male end connected to the female receiver of the hinge bracket. A second end of the push rod has a detent that is engageable with an engagement lip formed by the edge of the opening in the receiver housing.

  • Patent number: 5014466
Abstract: Extruded frame elements include a pair of opposed parallel jambs, a sill, and a header. A selected pair of opposite frame elements each contain a longitudinal channel; and metal, beam-like reinforcing members within these channels. The other two frame elements may also have reinforcing members. The sill is stepless and has a generally uniform, inside-to-outside downward slope. An upward-projecting lip on the sill, and a downward-projecting lip on the lifting ledge of the lower rail, have engaging surfaces which limit the outward deflection of the lower rail under tornado (low pressure) conditions. A pair of wind load stop elements project into the window opening from the jambs, adjacent the outer surfaces of the stiles of the inner sash unit. The inner sash has a hurricane stop element on each of its stiles, projecting sideways, so as to engage the jambs and limit the inward deflection of the stiles under hurricane (high pressure) conditions.
