The profile element is preferably hollow and is constructed from six identical plates that form side surfaces. All the plates are provided with eight-cornered edges, whereby the plates are connected via one edge and the other edges each form an opening at the corners of the cube-shaped profile elements. Very modular, stable construction systems are produced using these elements and cross-shaped profile strips having an acceptable appearance when connected with clamp profiles, wherein these elements each form an optically acceptable closure at the edges of the skeleton structure.

The closing bushing (7) is designed for the form-fitting reception of the clamping device (2) body through a recess (16), and comprises a bore in which the adjustment knob (6) can be received. The surface oriented in the introduction direction (12) of the clamping device (2) in the closing bushing (7) is larger than the corresponding surface of the adjustment knob (6). A clamping device provided with such a closing bushing (7) exhibits a greater resistance to the traction forces applied in the direction of the arrow (12). Clamping devices (2) of the above-mentioned type can also be used for profiled parts (1) made of materials different from the traditional ones, such as wooden parts.

The slide (7) is flat, and the insert core (2) comprises two inner grooves for axially guiding the slide (7). Rotatably guided in the insert core (2) is an eccentric (5). When the eccentric head (4) is rotated, the eccentric roller (22) presses against the inner wall (30) of a recess (12) in the slide (7) in order to move the latter into the insert core (2) into a position which enables the projection to exert the aforementioned clamping pressure.

Said holding pieces and the interior walls of the insert core (2) have a second system of sliding surfaces (24,26) which owing to the axial movement of the bolt (7) cause a deviation of the holding pieces (17) having in its free end area said projection (21) intended to exert said force.
