  • Patent number: 11280437
Abstract: One or more seals may be provided in a gap sub to prevent the ingress of drilling fluid into an insulating gap between a male member of the gap sub and a female member of the gap sub. A first seal may comprise an internal gap sub seal provided near the tip of the male member of the gap sub. A second seal may comprise an external gap sub seal provided near the tip of the female member of the gap sub. The first and second seals may comprise non-conductive materials. The first and second seals may each comprise one or more O-rings. The first and second seals may comprise one or more lips, protrusions or flanges to engage the male and/or female members of the gap sub for maintaining contact with the male and/or female members during deformation of the gap sub.

  • Patent number: 10961843
Abstract: An active downhole antenna located in a borehole receives electromagnetic (EM) telemetry transmissions from sources in adjacent boreholes. The antenna comprises a processor operable do decode and measure signal to noise ratio of received transmissions. Data received at the active antenna is transmitted to surface using a high-speed data communication network. The active antenna may handle data communications from multiple downhole EM telemetry transmitters.

  • Patent number: 10329901
Abstract: A telemetry system useful in drilling operations receives and displays telemetry data. The telemetry system also determines and displays information regarding the status of the telemetry transmission. The telemetry system may display which data will be updated next, when the update is expected to be complete, and how reliable is the currently displayed data. The system can facilitate efficient drilling operations.
