Abstract: An underpad for covering a patient support structure includes an upper, patient facing surface and a lower, support structure facing surface. The underpad includes a liquid permeable patient facing layer and a liquid impermeable base layer. An absorbent layer is positioned above the base layer and below the patient facing layer, and a tissue layer is positioned above the absorbent layer and below the patient facing layer. An ink is deposited on the tissue layer. The ink is more readily visible through the patient facing layer than through the base layer.

The chassis length extends in a longitudinal direction from the back to the front of a user between first and second lateral edges and the width extends in a lateral direction substantially perpendicular to the length and between first and second longitudinal edges. The absorbent article includes a topsheet, backsheet, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and backsheet. The absorbent core may have an upper core and a lower core, and the upper and/or lower cores may include one or more channels formed in the core.
