Abstract: An imaging apparatus having an automatic backup function and a method for controlling the same are disclosed which can more securely store particular data, considered to be important by the user, in a memory of the imaging apparatus, and can automatically read out the particular data. The imaging apparatus includes a tuner which receives data containing at least one of audio data and video data, a main storage unit which stores data containing at least one of audio data and video data, and a controller which determines backup data, to be stored in a backup storage unit, from the data stored in the main storage unit, copies data determined as the backup data, and stores the copied data in the backup storage unit, whereby the imaging apparatus has an automatic data backup function.

Abstract: An image mode selecting method and apparatus for a television receiver which can display n images corresponding to n image modes on a screen utilizing a picture-in-picture (PIP) display function, so that a user can easily select an optimum image among the displayed images. According to the method and apparatus, the n images corresponding to the n image modes are displayed on the n PIP regions of the screen, respectively, by pressing an image selection key, and then the optimum image among the n displayed images can be selected by pressing a numeral key corresponding to the selected image.

Abstract: A linearity compensation circuit for a wide-screen television receiver which can uniformly compensate for a picture linearity that may be distorted due to variation of deflection current when a display mode is changed from a 4.times.3 aspect ratio (AR) to 16.times.9 AR, and vice versa. The linearity compensation circuit includes a variable linearity compensation coil which is connected to a horizontal deflection coil, and a control section for varying the inductance value of the variable linearity compensation coil according to change of the 4.times.3 AR and 16.times.9 AR display modes so as to compensate for the linearity of the picture displayed on a display screen.
