Abstract: A setup system and method for a refrigerator having a plurality of compartments respectively adapted to perform independent refrigerating and freezing functions. The setup system and method provides an application program adapted to control refrigerating and freezing environments for the refrigerator and initialized during the manufacturing process of the refrigerator by the manufacturer. In accordance with the refrigerator setup system and method, the user is allowed to install, directly or via program providing means connected to a network, the application program to establish respective refrigerating or freezing environments desired for the compartments. Thus, it is possible to provide effects of establishing refrigerating and freezing environments for respective compartments meeting the local characteristics of the area where the refrigerator is used.

Abstract: An Internet refrigerator and a method of operating the Internet refrigerator are disclosed. The Internet refrigerator includes a modem for performing a data communication with remote communication devices through the Internet, a first control section for controlling constituent elements of the refrigerator, a touch panel for producing key signals in accordance with a user's touch, a second control section for controlling other constituent elements of the refrigerator including the first control section in response to the key signals provided from the touch panel and key signals from the remote communication devices, a display section for displaying necessary information under the control of the second control section, and an Internet connection device for connecting the refrigerator to the Internet. The Internet refrigerator operating method uses internal information of the Internet refrigerator and information from the external communication devices.

Abstract: There are provided a refrigerator and method for controlling the same in which a data error generated in a main controller of the refrigerator can be repaired with an easy key operation. The refrigerator includes a refrigerator controller for controlling configurations related with refrigerating functions according to an algorithm previously set, a main controller for controlling the refrigerator controller or configurations related with additional functions other than the refrigerating functions to correspond to a command of a user, and for returning to an initial setup state according to a request of the user when there is generated a data error therein, and a restoration switch, set at a predetermined outer portion of the main controller, for inputting a restoration command of the user when the data error is generated in the main controller.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling a refrigerator capable of transmitting and receiving information over an external communication network. A display unit is installed on the front surface of the refrigerator, and a touch panel is connected to the display unit to input a variety of user commands. A schedule management function, a self-diagnosis management function and a component replacement time management function are performed and, if an emergency situation occurs while those functions are performed, a pop-up message is outputted to the screen and information related to the pop-up message is transmitted over the external communication network. Therefore, the user can recognize an emergency situation at an accurate date, manage the refrigerator more efficiently and rapidly and handle information more conveniently. A touch panel and a radio remote controller are selectively used to input a variety of function key signals enabling a user to watch television through the display unit.

Abstract: Structure for mounting a monitor on a refrigerator including the monitor mounted on a front face of the refrigerator for presenting a picture, and a controlling part mounted on a top of the refrigerator for providing a picture signal to the monitor for presenting a state of the refrigerator and internet information, wherein cables connecting the displaying part and the driving circuit are resistant to noise, thereby permitting no trespass into a food space at all and an easy mounting on the door.

Abstract: The activated kaolin powder compound is prepared from naturally-existing kaolin (hereinafter “natural kaolin”). The activated kaolin powder compound is prepared by heating natural kaolin to 480° C. within at most one hour, calcinating the heated natural kaolin at high temperature by heating in the range of 800˜950° C. over at least 15 minutes, quenching the calcinated kaolin with water or air, and pulverizing the quenched activated kaolin to give powder having particle sizes of 2 &mgr;m or less, wherein the natural kaolin is primarily composed of halloysite (Al2O3.2SiO2.4H2O). The activated kaolin powder compound is employed in an amount of about 5 to 15% by weight of cement for preparing mortar or cement. The cement composition containing the activated kaolin powder compound can provide a mortar or concrete having excellent properties in compressive strength, flexural strength and water permeability.
