  • Patent number: 8155086
Abstract: The present invention relates to a handover method between systems of a multi-mode terminal. A multi-cast based protocol is added to an Internet protocol (IP) based wireless network to cooperate with the wireless access protocol of the terminal. In addition, minimized processes are added to use the wireless access protocol having wide area coverage. Accordingly, the handover between the systems may be performed while packet loss or service delay caused by a movement of a user may be minimized, and terminal complexity may not be increased.

  • Publication number: 20080207230
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-mode communication system and a method thereof. The multi-mode communication system uses a first mode among a plurality communication modes for accessing a first mobility control entity (MCE) among a plurality of MCEs, and communicates data with the first MCE. The multi-mode communication system receives a paging request that has been transmitted from a multi-mode control entity (MMCE) for accessing a second MCE from the first MCE and analyzes the paging request, and puts the first mode into a sleep mode and a second mode for accessing the second MCE into an awake mode based on the analysis. Subsequently, multi-mode UE accesses the second MCE by using the second mode in the awake mode. According to the present invention, an MMCE for multi-mode control is provided to integrate and manage an idle state for each access mode of multi-mode user equipment, thereby minimizing power consumption due to access of the multi-mode UE to a radio access system.

  • Patent number: 7269448
Abstract: A method recognizes a request for data transmission by a mobile/base station RRC (Radio Resource Control) using a network transfer device, by which the mobile/base station RRC can recognize the request for data transmission using the network transfer device in a state where recognition of the request for data transmission is disabled. The mobile/base station RRC sets the network transfer device in a suspend state and recognizes a request for data transmission from an up/down link. The network transfer device in the suspend state recognizes the request for data transmission to the up/down link, and sends a message to the mobile/base station RRC to inform the mobile/base station RRC that it recognizes the request for data transmission. The mobile/base station RRC recognizes the request for data transmission according to a received message from the network transfer device and transits to an active state.

  • Patent number: 7151756
Abstract: A hard handoff method between asynchronous CDMA (code division multiple access) system and synchronous CDMA system is provided. A hard handoff method between asynchronous CDMA (code division multiple access) system and synchronous CDMA system in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes following steps. First step is to transmit asynchronous CDMA channels from synchronous CDMA base stations with a purpose of synchronizing handoff time at synchronous CDMA base station and code used at synchronous CDMA base station. The transmission is done by a mobile terminal that is in communication with an asynchronous CDMA base station. The transmission is a part of handoff process and the mobile terminal performs hard handoff to synchronous CDMA base station. Second step is to report measured result to the asynchronous CDMA base station on the basis of intensity of asynchronous CDMA pilot channel received from an adjacent synchronous CDMA base station. The reporting is done by the mobile terminal.
