Abstract: The present invention provides a vehicle control device that enhances safety in an event of a collision of a vehicle. The vehicle control device includes: a speed calculator that calculates a vehicle speed at a time of collision when the collision of the vehicle is detected by the collision detection sensor, and a driving assist controller that performs automatic brake control based on the vehicle speed at the time of collision calculated by the speed calculator, wherein when a brake pedal is depressed at the time of collision of the vehicle, the speed calculator calculates the vehicle speed at the time of collision based on a highest of respective detected values by the wheel speed sensors for a plurality of wheels.
