  • Publication number: 20140212845
Abstract: The current disclosure is directed to a dental implant system and method that modifies the screw access channel of an implant-supported abutment in order to improve cement retention within the abutment chamber and to improve retention strength of prosthesis. The cement-retaining system comprises an abutment screw and a longitudinal extension of the abutment screw that channels excess cement into the chamber. The extension may be made from a variety of materials, including metal alloys, plastic materials, or materials that have a low melting point and can be removed in order to allow easy access to the screw head. In one implementation, the extension is affixed at the head of an abutment screw. In other implementations, the extension and the abutment screw are a continuous unit. Experiments demonstrate that the extension increases the volume of cement within the abutment chamber and improves the retention ability of the abutment-restoration complex.

  • Publication number: 20090105608
Abstract: A spoon-shaped skin biopsy instrument is used in the removal of superficial skin samples and skin abnormalities for subsequent laboratory analysis. The spoon-shaped skin biopsy instrument is comprised of a pair of spoon-shaped cutting edges, which surround the desired skin sample, a crossed-members apparatus with finger loops, and a pivot point that connects the crossed members. This present invention maximizes surgical efficiency and handling and minimizes operation time.

  • Publication number: 20080172085
Abstract: An elliptical excision clamp helps in the removal of superficial lesions and abnormalities as well as the subsequent suturing of said removal of lesions. An elliptical excision clamp utilizes a pair of half-elliptical shaped clamp jaws curved at an appropriate ratio for the target surgical area, a number of suture hole and slot pairs on the clamp jaws used to facilitate suturing, a crossed members array with finger loops, and a pivot point pin used to connect said crossed members. This device helps minimize bleeding and operation time, and maximizes surgical efficiency and wound management.
