  • Patent number: 5709280
Abstract: A sealed lead-acid tray assembly for a motive-powered vehicle such as, for example, a Class 1-3 truck, comprises a bottom tray with a base, side and back walls defining a lower and an upper cell-receiving space and a first set of short sealed lead-acid cells, typically having a height of no more than about 14 inches, vertically positioned in the lower cell-receiving space, a top tray support structure positioned in the bottom tray, and a top tray located on the top tray support and having a second set of short sealed lead-acid cells in the top tray which is located in the upper cell-receiving space of the bottom tray, the respective cells being suitably electrically connected together.

  • Patent number: 4889122
Abstract: An ultrasound hyperthermia unit for the treatment of a target tissue, includes an ultrasound transducer array (1) angled to direct sonic energy toward a target (8), wherein the array (1) comprises a plurality of divergent transducers (2) arranged radially of a central axis to provide a coherent treatment field about a central axis.Temperature sensing means (10) may be operatively associated with the array and adapted to provide an output signal indicative of temperature values adjacent a target tumour, said signal being utilized to control the output of the transducers.A liquid bath (5) may be provided for being located between the array (1) and the skin (14) of a patient, said liquid bath being adapted to warm or induce local hyperthermia in the skin surface. The divergent array, when associated with a water bath, allows a particularly effective treatment of physiotherapeutic conditions or neoplastic tissues without causing collateral damage.

  • Patent number: 4847574
Abstract: A multiband feed system for a reflector antenna, capable of operating simultaneously at a plurality of separate bands of wide bandwidths and of having both frequency and polarization diversity, comprises a common tapered waveguide for carrying the frequency multiplexed bands and orthomode junctions spaced along the length of the waveguide for coupling signals in a single frequency band in and out of the waveguide. 90.degree. and 180.degree. narrowband polarization devices between the orthomode junctions and the orthomode transducers provide polarization diversity. A dual-depth corrugated flared horn operating in a beamwidth saturation mode with the feed system gives a radiation pattern with low cross-polarization content and nearly equalized subreflector illumination at all bands of operation.

  • Patent number: 4223283
Abstract: A microwave power divider is formed of a plurality of input ports (one or two pairs) and a plurality of output ports (one or two sets of three) which deliver three properly phased output signals in response to only one input signal at one input port of a pair of ports. A second signal at the second input port of the pair of ports similarly will cause three properly phased output signals to be delivered.
