  • Patent number: 11772020
Abstract: A depth filtration device for the clarification of biological fluids including a composite depth filter media having a nonwoven first layer integral with a second layer containing a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers, a filter aid, and a wet-strength resin. The depth filter media exhibits increased binding capacity for soluble impurities such as DNA and host cell proteins from biological/cell culture feedstreams during secondary clarification and low-level impurity clearance of harvested cell culture fluids, such as those used for the manufacture of monoclonal antibodies. The depth filter media additionally exhibits significantly lower flushing requirements, resulting in lower levels of organic, inorganic and bioburden extractables released, high dirt holding capacities and good chemical and/or radiation resistance.

  • Patent number: 11701623
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a composite membrane formed by lamination of two or more separate porous polymeric layers, as well as to a method and system for lamination. Advantageously, the resulting composite is a single layer, being difficult to separate into its component layers, yet effectively maintains the filtering capabilities of the component layers when not laminated.

  • Publication number: 20230100527
Abstract: The disclosure provides improved vent filters useful in single-use in-line transfusion systems. In a first aspect, the disclosure provides filter comprising (i) a layer comprising a fluoropolymer membrane and (ii) a layer comprising at least two air-permeable thermoplastic polymeric layers, the air-permeable thermoplastic polymeric layers comprised of a first polymeric layer and a second polymeric layer, wherein the first polymeric layer is in bonded contact with the fluoropolymer membrane, possesses a melting point of about 95° C. to about 180° C., and wherein the second polymeric layer is in bonded contact with the first polymeric layer and has a melting point of about 220° C. to about 265° C. These filters exhibit excellent bonding strength between the various layers while preserving a considerable amount of the original fluoropolymer membrane air flux.
