  • Publication number: 20140180139
Abstract: Intravascular devices, systems, and methods are disclosed. In some embodiments, side-loading electrical connectors for use with intravascular devices are provided. The side-loading electrical connector has at least one electrical contact configured to interface with an electrical connector of the intravascular device. A first connection piece of the side-loading electrical connector is movable relative to a second connection piece between an open position and a closed position, wherein in the open position an elongated opening is formed between the first and second connection pieces to facilitate insertion of the electrical connector between the first and second connection pieces in a direction transverse to a longitudinal axis of the intravascular device and wherein in the closed position the at least one electrical contact is electrically coupled to the at least one electrical connector received between the first and second connection pieces.

  • Patent number: 8471149
Abstract: A shielded electrical cable that has a set of insulated inner conductors and a shield made of a plurality of insulated wires, arranged about said inner conductors. Each insulated wire of the shield has a conductive core coated by insulation which is fused together with the insulation of the neighboring wires. Also, said conductive cores of said plurality of insulated wires are brought into mutual electrical contact at a longitudinal interval of said twisted shielded pair.

  • Publication number: 20110098601
Abstract: A method of performing a surgical procedure using an electrical surgical device, which utilizes an electrical surgical assembly including the surgical device connected to a base station by a cable having a plurality of mutually electrically insulated conductors, and an electrical adapter interposed at a point between the base station and the device. The adapter is comprised of a first half and a second half that have freedom of rotation relative to each other. The first half is equipped with a first connector-half and the second half is equipped with a second connector-half. While the surgical procedure is performed, the adapter permits relative rotation between the first half and the second half, thereby avoiding a problem of cable twisting.

  • Patent number: 7073255
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a ribbon cable, comprising providing a set of insulated wires and aligning said insulated wires in a predetermined arrangement. The insulated wires are warmed sufficiently for said insulation to be become soft and adhesive, are pressed together so that they adhere to one another and allowed to cool, to form a ribbon cable.

  • Patent number: 7028387
Abstract: A method of producing a miniaturized set of inductive coils set mutually orthogonally inside a tube. In the method a positional template made of a sheet of substantially rigid material that defines a set of guide apertures, each of which is in the shape of one of the set of inductive coils. The guide apertures are disposed so that when an inductive coil is fitted into each one of the guide apertures the coils will be substantially orthogonal to one another.

  • Patent number: 6261130
Abstract: A high pin count electrical connector assembly for electrically connecting a set of first conductors to a set of second conductors according to a predetermined connective scheme. The connector assembly includes a male-half connector that has an array of spring-loaded pins, each of which is connected to a separate first conductor, and further has a male half connective bracket. A female-half connector has an array of contact regions positioned in matching arrangement to the array of spring-loaded pins, and each connected to a separate second conductor, and further has a female-half connective bracket configured to releasably mate with said male-half connective bracket so that when said male-half bracket and said female-half bracket are correctly mated together said spring loaded pins are held in contact with said contact regions so that said first conductors and said second conductors are electrically connected according to said predetermined scheme.

  • Patent number: 5800500
Abstract: A multi-electrode cochlear implant is taught in which approximately twenty or more insulated metal wires are wound around a flexible tube. These wires are held in place with a further layer of dielectric insulating material. The insulation is selectively removed with a laser beam to form electrodes. Two or more layers or valences of wires can be used, with the inner layer of wires terminating distal to the outer layers to provide a stepwise approximation of the tapering of the scala tympani. A shape memory material core may be introduced into the tube, so that the implant will retain an effective shape after implantation. In a preferred embodiment, electrical conductors are connected to the shape memory material to permit the select warming of the shape memory material by the passing of an electric current through it. In an alternative preferred embodiment, the shape memory material is warmed by adjacent heating elements.
