Abstract: Multilayer bottles contain a core layer having a first side and a second side, the core layer comprising an opacifying additive and a core polyester polymer, a hydrolyzable polymer, or a combination thereof, an inner layer positioned on the first side of the core layer, the inner layer comprising a first polyester polymer, and an outer layer positioned on the second side of the core layer, the outer layer comprising a second polyester polymer. The multilayer bottles have a light transmittance of less than or equal to 1% at a wavelength in the 400 to 700 nm range and an ash content of less than or equal to 1 wt. %.
