Abstract: A tape running system for a slide loading type magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus. The system comprises a stationary base plate mounted on a deck mechanism of the apparatus, a slide base mounted on the stationary base plate such that it is reciprocated with respect to the stationary base plate within a predetermined range, a pair of loading gears mounted on the lower surface of the stationary base plate and engaging with each other and connected to a pair of slant post assemblies through individual loading levers, and a rotational force transmitting unit transmitting the rotational force of the loading gears to the slide base for driving the slide base. The rotational force transmitting unit is connected between one of the pair of loading gears and the slide base and linearly reciprocates the slide base using the rotational force of the loading gears.

Abstract: A pivotable cassette housing for a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, comprising a pivotable bracket formed of a single metal plate, to have an integral construction, and a cassette holder mounted in the bracket and adapted to receive a tape cassette therein. The pivotable bracket has a pair of side walls and a pair of connecting portions integrally formed with the side walls and adapted to connect the side walls with each other, one of the connecting members having a cross section with a stepped shape and the other having a cross section with a shape having opposite protruded ends. Each of the side walls has a guide pin extending inwardly from an inner surface of the side wall and the cassette holder has a guide slot for receiving the guide pin, to mount the cassette holder in the bracket.

Abstract: A brake device for a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, such as a slide loading type camera recorder. The supply reel brake unit includes a supply reel brake having an operating pin, and a mode switch gear having an operating protrusion pushing the operating pin in a tape running mode, thereby releasing the tape supply reel table. In addition, the supply reel brake unit may comprise a drive cam gear, a supply reel brake cooperating with the drive cam gear to selectively brake the tape supply reel table.

Abstract: A reel driving apparatus for use in a tape recorder such as a video cassette tape recorder, a digital audio tape recorder and the like, includes a rotary disk provided with an engaging protrusion and resiliently biased by a coil spring, an up/down bracket movable upward and downward together with the up/down bracket, and an idler gear engaging with upper and lower gears of supply and take-up clutches, selectively. By the arrangement described, the structure of deck mechanism becomes simple by using only a single idler mechanism to drive the supply reel and the take-up reel in different torques suitable for a high speed mode and low speed mode.
