  • Patent number: 7138179
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for preparing a biodegradable polymer in the form of uniform powder or spherical particles by dispersion polymerization without a grinding step. The method for preparing a biodegradable polyester includes dispersing a monomer in the presence of a catalyst in a dispersion solvent to form a solid or liquid phase for dispersion polymerization and thereby to yield a biodegradable aliphatic polyester in the form of spherical particles or powder, the monomer comprising a mixture of a first compound (e.g., lactide or glycolide) and a second compound being selected from the group consisting of polyhydric alcohols (e.g., glycerin, erythritol, penterythritol or dipentaerythritol) and carprolactone. The present invention readily prepares a biodegradable polymer having a high molecular weight in the form of uniform powder or spherical particles.

  • Publication number: 20040253290
Abstract: A high-strength, biodegradable, organic polymer/inorganic particle composite material for bone fixation, which is prepared by mixing and dispersing a biocompatible, inorganic fine or ultrafine particle in an organic monomer and then polymerizing the organic monomer and thus exhibits remarkably improved mechanical strength, and also to a high-strength, biodegradable, organic polymer/inorganic particle composite material prepared thereby is disclosed. More particularly, the a high-strength, biodegradable, organic polymer/inorganic particle composite material for bone fixation is prepared by mixing and dispersing a calcium phosphorus compound or a calcium aluminate compound in a biodegradable organic monomer, at the amount of 0.5 to 60% by weight; and polymerizing the biodegradable organic monomer; and then forming the polymerized material into a desired shape. The synergistic, reinforcing effect of the inorganic fine particle is increased, so that the high-strength material for bone fixation can be prepared.

  • Patent number: 6180749
Abstract: The present invention relates to a glass clear heavy gauge sheet with copolyester, having over than 83% of lights transmittance and lower than 5% of Haze, prepared by copolymer wherein polymerized [A] the acid ingredient component (i) terephthalate moiety as major component and (ii) essentially including 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate moiety, and (iii) selectively including isophthalate moiety with [B] the glycol component of (i) ethyleneglycol (EG) itself or (ii) the mixture of ethyleneglycol (EG) and 1,4-cyclohexandimethanol (CHDM). A glass clear heavy gauge sheet with copolyester of the present invention is suitable various industrial usages such as glass substitute of automobile, window glass substitute of high building, and transparent soundproof wall.

  • Patent number: 5948544
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyester multilayer sheet having excellent impact strength and weatherability, and relates to a process for preparing the same. The present invention relates to coextrude more than 2 kinds of copolyester resins, composed of 5-99 mol % of ethyleneterephthalate and 1-95 mol % of ethylenenaphthalate or ethyleneisophthalate, having at least 0.005 dl/g of inherent viscosity difference each others, on 3-7 layers of multilayer sheet which had been arrayed by turns with high viscosity resin and low viscosity resin, and its outer layer has the higher inherent viscosity than the inner layer.Polyester multilayer sheet of the present invention is suitable for window glass substitute of building, transparent agricultural intercepting material and clothing material.
