Abstract: A printing method and a printing system are provided where a printing property of the printing system is stored, a printing compatibility of a printing data of an object to be printed is determined by comparing a data property of the printing data with the stored printing property of the printing system, and the determined printing compatibility is displayed to a user. Accordingly, a printing system and a printing method, which are capable of preventing user inconvenience and waste of resources due to re-printing are provided.

Abstract: A terminal device having a correction function for natural color and a method thereof are provided for creating an image closest in color to the natural color. A priority storing unit stores at a reference color data area a range of natural colors which are colors of objects existing in the natural world. A color editing unit corrects natural color image data corresponding to the natural color area, based on a command for correcting the natural area existing in a predetermined image from the user. A controlling unit decides whether the natural color image data corrected by the color editing unit is included in the reference color data area.

Abstract: Provided are an image forming system and an image forming method. In the system, a film scanner is separable or separate from and is connectable or communicably coupled to an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus controls the film scanner to receive image data generated by the film scanner. Accordingly, the size of the image forming system can be reduced, and since the film scanner is separable or separate from the image forming apparatus, a user can conveniently use the film scanner.

Abstract: A photo printing system and a photo printing method are provided. The photo printing system includes a printer for receiving printing data, printing an image on an image portion of a photo printing medium on which an image should be printed, and printing a message on a tear-off portion of the photo printing medium on which no image is printed, and a printing data generating unit for receiving image data for printing the image on the image portion, generating message data for printing the message on the tear-off portion, generating the printing data by combining the image data and the message data, and sending the printing data to the printer.

Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for enhancing digital image quality. Input color data are transformed to obtain brightness data and chrominance data. The transformed brightness data is compared with predetermined brightness levels X1 and X2 on a pixel by pixel basis and the brightness data of each concerned pixel is reset or output without change according to the comparison. The comparison identifies the concerned pixel as belonging to one of a dark area and a light area requiring contrast enhancement and the brightness level of the concerned pixel is adjusted to provide the enhanced contrast. The obtained chrominance data and the reset brightness data are inversely transformed into corresponding color data. The predetermined brightness levels X1 and X2 are adaptively recomputed after a last pixel in a concerned line is considered for contrast enhancement.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for setting a color profile corresponding to a user's preferred color when a driver of an image forming apparatus is installed on a computer are provided. The method includes the steps of displaying a dialog box in which a user can input information regarding the user's preferred color when the driver of the image forming apparatus is installed on the computer, receiving the input information through the dialog box, and setting a color profile corresponding to the input information in the computer. Since a user interface in which a user can input his or her color preference is provided and thus the user's color preference can be obtained through the user interface, a color image can be reproduced according to the user's color preference.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing halftone by generating a first dot pattern corresponding to a first color and a second dot pattern corresponding to a second color for a video signal having at least two colors is provided. The method includes generating the first dot pattern by halftone processing the video signal using a first screen, and generating the second dot pattern by halftone processing the video signal using a second screen, which has a relationship of complement relative to the first screen.

Abstract: Disclosed are a color management method, an apparatus thereof and a color management computer program for executing the method that enable a user to conveniently and easily select and/or change colors desired by the user in diverse ways. The color management method includes displaying a color scheme list that is a list of color schemes for providing a standard for converting the colors that constitute an image, and if a selection manipulation of one among the color schemes that constitute the displayed color scheme list is input, storing the color scheme selected by the selection manipulation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to generate a preview image. The method of generating the preview image includes classifying data input from an application program by data types, performing a color matching operation that converts a first color signal of the input data into a second color signal used in a printing device according to one or more rendering intents set for the classified data types, and generating the preview image of the input data for which the color matching operation is completed. The preview image is generated based on the color-matched data for the different classified data types. Thus, the preview image appears to be substantially the same image as a document that is printed by an image forming device.

Abstract: A profile creation method and apparatus that allow a user to select a gamut mapping algorithm and create a profile using the selected gamut mapping algorithm. The profile creation apparatus has an interface unit through which a selection command is input, a memory unit storing a plurality of gamut mapping algorithms, and a profile creator creating an output profile of an output unit using the profile data of the output unit and a gamut mapping algorithm selected according to the selection command, from among the plurality of gamut mapping algorithms.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a new color chart is provided. In this method, first, a standard color chart is output using an image output unit. Then, a colorimetric value of the standard color chart output by the image output unit is detected. Then, a new color chart is produced by reconstructing the standard color chart using the colorimetric value. Accordingly, the new color chart enables a device-independent color space to have a uniform color distribution. Thus, an interpolation weight obtained from the device-independent color space is stable, and an error in a color image output by a printer or the like is minimized.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus and an image processing method that reduce data transmission time by transmitting data between internal memories of a codec without passing through a system memory. Reducing the number of accesses to the system memory increases processing speed, and reduces the load of a main processor, when image data is to be encoded or decoded.
