Abstract: Provided is a system and method for sharing position information using a mobile communication system. The system includes the mobile communication system providing a short message service; at least one second navigation terminal for detecting the position information from a received position information short message, mapping the detected position information to map data, and transmitting a position information short message; and a first navigation terminal for receiving and storing a proper number of each second navigation terminal, transmitting a position information short message, receiving the position information short message from the navigation terminal, and mapping a position based on the position information to the map data.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for informing a vehicular safety distance is provided. The apparatus includes a first camera for photographing the front of a vehicle; a first distance measuring unit for measuring a distance from a front vehicle; a second camera for photographing the rear of the vehicle; a second distance measuring unit for measuring a distance from a rear vehicle; a storage unit for storing a lane pattern and reference patterns for the front and rear of the vehicle for detecting whether or not there exist the front and rear vehicles in photographed images; and a controller for comparing the photographed images with the front and rear reference patterns to detect the front and rear vehicles, detecting a lane of the detected vehicle, and controlling the first and second distance measuring unit to measure the distances.

Abstract: Provided is a navigation system with a function of destination search using a synchronization service of a home telematics system. The navigation system includes: a map database for storing map data; a GPS (global positioning system) module for receiving each position signal from a plurality of GPS satellites, and calculating a self position; a wireless communication unit for performing a data communication with the computer; and a telematics controller for searching synchronization data stored in a computer for synchronization data having the key word, setting the searched synchronization data as the destination, searching for a path from the calculated current position to the destination, mapping the searched path to the map data, and performing a function of navigation.
